Noisy and marihuana smell
Just finished the 15-day quarantine in a 45m2 studio, and allthough 2 weeks confinement in a room is never pleasant, it has been quite a challenge with all noise 24/7. I started happily at the top floor of the C-building, but soon requested another room because of a water pump above my room, switching on and off every few minutes with a sound of banging pipes all night. After a negative Covid-test, I ended up in a lower room and could finally sleep. Until a new upper neighbour arrived, jumping around and choving chairs on the tile floor all night. Also a strong marihuana smell appeared frequently. Addressed all this to hotel reception several times, but no concrete action other than some Line messages, and repeated sorry from guest without change of behavior. Also other guests (mostly US) not very considerate (do you really have to watch a youtube video about construction at 5am on your balcony without a headset?) and shoving furniture on a tile floor at night (can be easily solved with rubber pads). Behavior of guests is ofcourse not primarily the responsibility of the hotel, but there are a lot of rules for a reason. They are pretty pointless without follow-up or solutions. Finally I ended up in a room facing the parking lot. All in all, communication with staff is often confusing, due to limited English and different contact persons (not clear who responds). Also rules on paper and in practice can be different. Food is ok, Thai food better than western. If you want warm food, rent a microwave or bring (or request) a pan. Portions are a bit small for a 1,90m male. Extra stuff you can easily order online (for example via Grab), and will be delivered to hotel. Internet is good, mostly on. The room itself is spacious, although a big part is taken by the kitchen and closet space, and can use some maintenance. Apart from the building noises, also the airport link (elevated) and an old-school steam train track are quite close to the building (service early morning to midnight). On regular visits to Bangkok I have encountered better and more quiet places for less stars. All-in-all I would not rebook this for...
Read moreI cannot express how much I loved staying here. This hotel has a beautiful and luxurious feel to it - everything is beautiful, well designed and inviting. We ended up staying here twice in our travels around Thailand - this was our first stop when we arrived in country and then we loved it so much that we decided to make it our last stop before going home as well. The staff are incredibly attentive and helped with our luggage as soon as they saw us coming which, after a long haul flight and a short trip on the BTS was very welcome. The rooms are fantastic. We stayed in the Superior Double Room and the Studio Hollywood respectively. In less than a 5 minute walk is a wonderful food market which is open until late and also had a bar and pool table where we spent a couple of fun evenings. There isn't a huge amount to do around the immediate vicinity otherwise, but I feel Silver Palm is not the type of place you will want to spend lots of time away from. This is a resort you want to stay at and enjoy. That said, the BTS is only a five minute walk away so the whole of Bangkok is easily available should you want to spend a day or evening out. Grab is also an option we used. The staff are wonderful and even remembered me and referred to me by name when we arrived the second time around which goes to show how wonderful and attentive they are. When I had to fly back home, they got the taxi out early in the morning and helped me load up and drove me to the BTS station to save me walking with all my luggage. The only thing I wish was available would be for the TV's in the rooms to be smart TV's so we had things like Netflix / YouTube to watch as well as normal TV channels. We ended up not watching a lot of telly so it certainly wasn't a big issue at all, but if we were staying long term, it would be a lovely additional touch. My partner and I have visited Thailand multiple times and this is now going to be a place we stay often, especially since it is so convenient for the airport. Cannot recommend Silver Palm...

If you walk a bit more (10-15 minutes walk from the hotel) there is a 7--11, street foods and another supermarket.|Seacon Square shopping mall is at 10 minutes by taxi (about 100 baht) but you can also go with the sky train (30 baht per person).||We liked this hotel because it's small and quiet.
