This place is probably the worst managed/maintained 'resort' I've ever been to, the real shame is that it could quite nice, but instead it has been run into the ground.||||The landscaping is very nice, with some amazing tropical trees, the beach is quiet and nice (although a bit seaweedy and slimy to swim). The gardens are huge and really good for walking around.||||However the rest of the resort is a terrible dump, they must spend all the money on upkeep of the gardens, because everything else is falling apart.||||When we first arrived at our room the strong stink of damp mold, urine and cigarette smoke hit me at the door, if we had been staying for more than 1 night I would have turned around and checked out right there and then.||||As I walked into the room I stepping into a puddle of water, which I realized was dripping through the ceiling from the air conditioner. There was a big hole rotting through the ceiling, so this was obviously not a new feature.||||Everything is painted in the same color, and all the paint is peeling off, the beds are basically just a box with an airline blanket on them. The fridge literally looks like they just picked it up at the junkyard, and it didn't work.||||As we stared around at this disgusting room the staff member said "If you need anything just call to the reception", to which we asked "Where is the phone"...answer: "There isn't one" (no I'm not making this stuff up).||||We then went to the pool, which is very big and again could be nice, but there is no where to sit or put your things. There are only about 3 broken old wood deck chairs with rusty nails sticking out. I'm amazed they are able to keep the pool clean, as the filter/pump must be broken because instead of they have some jerry-rigged pumps on wheely-carts at the side of the pool, filtering it. The pool does however have a water slide which was working and the kids loved that.||||After swimming I though we could get some dinner, so we went to what appeared to the restaurant; but actually it is only open for breakfast and there is no where else to get food, except driving out into a local town.||||The resort does have some bikes available for rent, so in the morning we went to rent them, but apparently there is no one working in the reception until 8AM, so I have no idea how you check-in if you come in the night. Also all the bikes had flat tires so the point is somewhat moot.||||In summary: Do not stay at this unless they get new management and do a major refurbishment. If you want to see the pool, garden, or beach, just walk in and use them because there are no staff or anyone...
Read moreRock Garden Beach Resort is in fact a housing community. It does have a couple of swimming pools and a few other amenities. Many of the houses are owned by Thai or foreign expats who live full-time or part time there. Some houses and/or condos may be rented out. It is a family community. The name comes from a large number of large rock formations that were brought into the area. . Entrance is through guarded gates. It is an excellent place for. Long term rentals and for permanent residence. I stayed here while visiting my cousin who lives there with his family. It is generally very peaceful and quiet and a safe place for early morning or evening walks. It is walking distance to public beaches. There are canals that feed into the ocean and can accommodate small or medium motor boats. In some of the border canals you can find local fishermen and shrimp farming. Their work huts line some of the edge canals. Many houses are built along the canals, which makes for peaceful living. Popular with expats from Europe, Australia and the USA as well as many US citizens and Thai. I would consider it if I was planning to live or retire in Thailand. (I am retired in the Philippines but it is a short plane flight to visit family...
Read moreMe & my girlfriend were in rayong & was looking for a hotel to stay. This hotel looked really nice on booking.com but said they were fully booked. We phone up on the off chase & the man in reception said he had two rooms available. We travelled 1.5hours to the hotel & on arrival it was like a scene from the horror movie hills have eyes. Everything looked run down, there where no cars in the car park & no sign of life what so ever. If we hadn't spoken to the man on the phone you would of thought this place was closed. We decided to have a walk around the complex before going into the reception. The pool was dirty & all the pool furniture was broken, the restaurant looked like it hadn't been used for years, the beach looked filthy. After 10 minutes of walking about we still hadn't seen anybody. The whole area had a really creepy feel to it & it didn't feel safe. We decided to quickly walk back to the car to get away from this place quick as possible. On return to the car park an old Thai man came out of the reception & just stood outside & stared at us. We felt like if we would of stayed here we might not of lived to see another day. |PLEASE BE CAREFULLY IF YOU BOOK TO STAY HERE. THIS...
