Surintara Resort — Hotel in Surin Province

It's hard to say anything bad about this resort. But it's also hard to say much good about it. It is simply a very basic, 2-year old room with a relatively comfortable bed and an adequate bathroom. There are no frills in this hotel. Unfortunately, I stayed at this hotel during probably the most expensive time of the year (during the annual elephant roundup). I paid 1,200 baht for a room that normally costs 450-500 baht. But, I must say that everything provided was adequate for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was available but not included in my room price. I tried it the first morning and found it good. American breakfast included a choice of fired egg or omelette, toast, bologna, hotdog, and fresh salad for 70 baht. The bed was comfortable enough to sleep most of the night. The bathroom had a nice sink and shower and toilet, with fully tiled walls and floor. Again, enough to suit your needs, but nothing too fancy. The one area that I can rave about are the owners of the resort. They went out of their way to help us with anything we needed. They even drove us downtown for free to help us get to the elephant parade. They also spoke very good English. This was my first time visiting Surin, so I can't compare this hotel to...

We stayed here (Surintra resort) for the last two days of our holiday and loved it! We were given an upgrade to a nicer room as the more basic rooms were all full. I didn't see the more basic room so can't comment on those but our room was probably the nicest we've stayed in in Thailand. It was very spacious with huge bed and balcony. Water, tea and coffee are supplied in the room as well. The bathroom was really what made the experience for us (!) as it came with a hot tub - we spent an inordinate amount of time in the bubbles with a bottle of beer each. Absolute luxury! The shower was great too with two heads. I think the room was tastefully decorated too. If I came back I would definitely consider paying more for this room. ||The hotel was about five minutes walk to the beach. Though in reality we spent most of the day by the two pools in the hotel. They were clean and very inviting and never too busy. We also got a sun lounger at whatever time of day. The staff were very good and the receptionist in particular spoke excellent English. Good location close to the beach. The room was large & clean with good air con. The resort itself is nice - small but pleasant pool & surroundings also kept clean BUT it’s like staying on a building site. We were told work doesn’t start until 9 & finishes by 6.
