My Home Hostel — Hotel in Ubon Ratchathani Province

I didn't want to leave a bad review, but finally decided to. I stayed here late July - early August 2024. The main problem at this hostel is the noise. There is no soundproofing at all: you can hear the person in the room next door very well. On my last night, the person next door watched videos on their phone until pretty late at night, I had poor sleep that night. The separating wall is very thin, and the presence of a door between the two rooms doesn't help either. By the way, on the fire escape plan they even show each such pair of rooms as one room. Something for the authorities to look into when time comes for the next inspection.

The other major problem is that this hostel doesn't have staff on site. Instead of a normal welcome by an employee, I found a closed door when I arrived. Sitting on a bench in front of the hostel, I had to text an anonymous person on Line so as to be allowed to enter. Very displeasing and inconvenient. And once inside, instead of normal communication and interaction with staff that I'm used to, all I got were notices saying that we are being watched via CCTV and listened to via microphones. That atmosphere didn't feel welcoming at all.

I had wanted to use their washing machine, but since there was no staff, I wasn't able to get help about it (I had to go wash at a laundromat instead).

One one of the days, the rubbish bin was overflowing with rubbish. This, again, because there are no staff on site, and the employee doesn't come every day.

When I showered on the first day (on the second floor), I closed the door... only to find myself locked inside: the door wouldn't open. I narrowly managed to get out. When I saw an employee the next day, I alerted her about the problem. All she said was: "You may use the shower on the third floor". I stayed there for 3 or 4 nights: never did a carpenter come to fix the problem with the door.

Lastly, there are stray dogs in front of the hotel. Every now and then they get excited and bark. I was afraid of stepping outside every time.

The only good thing was the corner with the communcal fridge, the water dispenser...

Walkable distance to bus station. Deff make a reservation so they know you’re coming (saw other reviews after I arrived).. I was a walk in and got lucky when I arrived because the cleaning lady was there to let me in (hostel is locked unless you have a keycard). The rooms are small private rooms with AC which is nice BUT the walls are paper thin and your experience depends on your roommate. Unfortunately for me I have some local next to me with terrible sleep apnea in 2A. I was listening to his stupid facebook reels all night before he started to snore...

Mi dispiace mettere 2 stelle perché la proprietaria è venuta a chiederci scusa personalmente ma detto ciò: Arriviamo la sera tardi, circa le 21, dopo 7 ore di bus. Nonostante l'orario un uomo ci apre subito la porta e conferma la nostra prenotazione, di poche parole ma comunque gentile. Apriamo la stanza ed è un disastro. Uno scarafaggio enorme morto per terra, uno vivo che abbiamo visto nascondersi proprio dietro il letto, capelli e peli dovunque per terra, lenzuola macchiate, il lavandino sporchissimo con dentro due ragni che avevano fatto delle ragnatele enormi, decine di formiche. Dopo aver passato un mese tra Malesia, Vietnam e Thailandia, questa è la stanza più sporca in assoluto. Avevamo paura anche ad appoggiare gli zaini per terra. Sono ormai le 22 e trovare un altro alloggio è praticamente impossibile. Chiediamo quindi un cambio stanza. Il ragazzo contatta subito la proprietaria che si scusa e immediatamente propone l'unica soluzione disponibile ovvero quella di spostarci all'ultimo piano in due lettini con bagno condiviso. Anche qui troviamo lenzuola sporche, capelli e peli dovunque, anche nel letto. Qui almeno non vediamo formiche o scarafaggi. Ci mostra i bagni in comune, quelli degli uomini molto puliti, quelli delle donne molto sporchi. Devo ammettere che abbiamo dormito dentro i sacchi a pelo. La mattina seguente la proprietaria viene a scusarsi di persona e ci permette di lasciare gli zaini. La posizione è comunque molto buona perché vicino a un 7/11, al terminal del bus e ad un tempio...
