This trip was a group of 4 for carnival 2k14. I met up with Cherise on the check in date and it was seamless, we were provided with towels and snacks and water. There is an ensuite mini fridge. Perfect. The room is minimally furnished which is fine for the trip. A dresser, the fridge and a closet. There is Hot water and AC in each room. THe central dining are was just a regular dining area, they had tea items outside all day so you could have a hot beverage if you so desired. the breakfast was never the same each day, they served local dishes and continental style so we were not left wanting. main area also has a toaster and microwave so you can reheat food if you so desire. I walked down to the Savanna from the guesthouse. the road is a narrow one, but this is normal in the caribbean so i was not perturbed by it. it took 30 minutes and i was walking leisurely. I did not feel unsafe in the neighborhood either. Public transportation off the hill is not very frequent but it does exist. Would i stay here again? Most definitely. there is a gap at the top of the bathroom which it would be more sound proof if it was were fully enclosed and they do not have a credit card machine. apart from that, it was fine. they also provided...
Read moreWe arrived at Shalom Guesthouse on Saturday night, Feb. 9th, 2013, the day my husband and I had our wedding in Tobago. So, the bridal party (9 of us in total) occupied 3 rooms within Shalom guesthouse.||We were greeted by Cherise, who is the sweetest woman in the world. She gave us a marriage book, on how to choose love over anger for our wedding present. How sweet is that! My friends had a room with bunkbeds, and it slept them comfortably, there was a bathroom in each bedroom as well. ||Every morning, there was breakfast to eat. This was such a nice added touch seeing we were here during Carnival time, and everything is so crazy expensive. Anytime we needed Cherise for something, she was always a knock away. We never felt unsafe on this property. ||This is not a ritzy place, it is simple, yet the hospitality makes it feel very warm and enjoyable. I would recommend this place for Carnival, Christmas, Easter, and also the non- busy time of year too....
Read moreUpon arriving at the guesthouse we were cheerfully greeted by Carissa (manager) and Joanne (hostess and chef) we immediately felt at home. The room was very clean and spacious, the food delicious, the service second to none. The guest house is located in a beautiful country setting, a lot of greenery interspersed with beautiful houses, approximately 10 minutes drive from downtown Port of Spain. At a cost of $40US/day/person we had 2 meals/day very nicely prepared and served. The guesthouse is under esthetic upgrades when completed it will be able to compete with any 5 star hotel..It is a perfect home away from home, very secure. We liked the fact that we did not have to give a credit card number or even a down payment before we got there, we paid cash at checkout time. ||We certainly plan to stay at Shalom Guesthouse whenever we visit Trinidad again and we plan to take our...
