I stayed one night with my son on transit for our flight home.||(1) Staff. Friendly, very approachable, sincerely helpful. Especially the humble gentleman at the front desk who may be the owner. He said that he was from Bulgaria. A thoroughly welcoming person.||(2) Room. Clean, unpretentious, well furnished. I'd booked a double room and was pleasantly surprised with 2 King-sized beds.||(3) Wi-Fi. Strong signal, gratis, no problems with internet. Nothing like spending 2 weeks in a neighbouring country with crummy Wi-Fi to make one appreciate how there is no going back to a pre-online life.||(4) Location. 15 minutes to the airport (non-peak hour) by taxi. Cost me 26 TL. Fuss-free. But watch out if you're coming or going to the airport during rush hour--the ride could take an hour.||(5) Neighbourhood. The hotel is sited in an authentic Turkish residential area with small family run shops and restaurants. No giant malls or tourist traps. Tried the "Usta Donerci" restaurant about a 3-min walk from the hotel. Hygienic, tasty Turkish food. A 15-cm doner durum (wrap) costs 10.50TL. The hotel is very good with a central location in Avcilar, within easy reach of Istanbul via metro link. Very friendly staff and very good breakfast and clean rooms. However, a word of caution, although you may request a non- smokers room some guest do smoke in them and if the hotel is fully booked this is a problem, though if you arrive during the day they will immediately clean the room if it is pointed out to them.
