We visited the Mercia hotel thinking that we were going to be staying in a nice 4 star hotel by the beach. ||||First of all the location of this hotel is terrible, there is nothing around there, no restaurants, shops or bars. We were in the middle of an industrial dilapidated area with more stray dogs than people. ||||Secondly, nobody in the hotel spoke even basic English. We found it impossible to find out any local information and we ended up going to another hotel to ask for local bus routes. Besides their nonexistent language skills, all staff were very dismissive of us and did not pay any attention to us, despite us being amongst the only customers in the hotel.||||The breakfast and generally the quality of the food was horrendous! Cold chips, cold pasty sausages, cheap processed meats and cheese and very cheap watery grape juice constituted our breakfast. We couldn't understand what was being served for dinner, as there was no displayed menu and nobody spoke English. ||||We resorted to google translate for communication and wanted to ask for some ice for the room. They had the nerve to try to charge us 20tl (£6) for a very small pot of ice.||||On their website they advertise an airport shuttle bus, but when asked about this (with google translate) they said they do not offer such a service and we need to get a taxi, which would have costed around £50. ||||Lastly, the room was generally clean at first inspection, however when we unwrapped the blanket we were shocked to find a used packed of strawberry flavoured oral jelly. We could not complain about this, as nobody could understand English. Also, we were not provided with any bed sheets and had to steal these from the housekeepers.||||Although we had payed for 4 nights, we ended up staying for only 2 and having to book a different hotel for the remainder of our stay. ||||Overall, we have never walked out of a hotel before, this is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Do...
Read moreThe staff is really friendly, especially receptionist Ömer is high class, thank you for the "Turkish cologne" :). Only the lack of english skill of the whole staff is not on a good level. Every concern we had was solved but at this level those things should not even occur. Dirt, bad smell and bad internet in room, but as said, it was sorted out. Breakfast is really good but after 2 days you get annoyed by the same meal over and over, dissapointing. The worst thing was the fitness/sauna/hamam offers. Sauna wasnt working, hamam wasnt used probably for months, dead cockroaches and dirty water from the pipes. The fitness room is also in the basement without any air flow, 50% of the equippment cant be used at all. The pool is clean and awesome. To connect internet outside of the room is almost impossible. Overall only the staff and the pool get a good rate, everything else needs...
Read moreMy wife and I booked a one night stay in this hotel on the first day of the year. The room was ok. Simple but neat and beautiful but the refreshing smell they sprayed was too much! We had to open the widow in the cold weather just to be able to breathe. They really need to cut down on the spray.||Also there was no Kleenex or a dust bin in the room! Only in the bathroom which was very strange! An entire room with no dust bin. But no big deal.||Breakfast was good with a verity of food to taste.||Room service was good and cost was very reasonable.||There wasn't a lot of guests so we hoped to get a room with sea view but we didn't.||The place is nice and excellent for travelers who want to relax. Istanbul is a very busy and noisy city but this hotel gives you a good break from that. Some travelers don't like to be far from the city but if you have a car then...
