This hotel is for the budget traveller, but for those in that category the Malatya Palace is worth considering. My friend and I each had the large room, which was spacious and with comfortable beds. The staff is polite and friendly, with special mention for Murat (front desk manager). The breakfast was adequate, served buffet style. The bathroom was clean with amenities, and hot water was in good supply. The wifi was extremely good. One of the best aspects of the hotel is its location in the city centre on "Şemsiye Sokak" (umbrella street). To be recommended is a leisurely stroll to the kanalboyu street/area, that has many cafes and restaurants, popular with university students as well as families. There is an artificial waterfall and small windmill in that area, which is a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. Read moreMalatya Palace Hotel is not a palace at all. The rooms are ok and the bed is comfortable but the bathroom wasnt that clean especially the toilet. The breakfast is terrible there was a day when they did not have anything at 9 o clock so be aware that for your money you wont get the value. Of course the price included breakfast!||The other problem is parking. On the website they promise free parking instead the small street is unbelievably narrow and the staff helped us take the car to a nearby parking lot where we had to pay 10 TL per day. When I complained they did not understand the problem but luckily there was Malek who could speak perfect English and he explained our problem. After that they gave us the price but anyway the situation is not correct.||Otherwise the location is good, it is in the umbrella street, but if you have a car I advice you not to stay...
Read moreLocation is central to bazaar and short walk to other sights. It gets 5-star for excellent breakfast, served from 7am on day 1 and then 1-star for the next day!! Hit and miss. A big problem was that there is nowhere to park even though the booking indicated “free parking”. Staff had no English and we no Turkish but they continued to talk rapid Turkish even though we had no idea. No attempt to meet common ground, use translator or anything. Also, Our room was comfortable and had all the basic needs but the AC barely worked - needed a service. Internet was ok. All up, a bit expensive (265TL) for two for 2-nights for...
