Didn’t even deserve 1 star. The staff are absolutely rude. The service is utterly poor. We had Turkish Lira’s stolen from our room around £70 in English pounds. When we questioned the hotel manager about this they denied it and said we were lying. We asked them to check CCTV footage or anything that can help us in any way they weren’t willing to but kept accusing us of being liars. We had no money exchanged to buy food and all currency exchange places were closed, we told the hotel staff this and they said that’s fine we don’t need to pay due to the money being stolen. We then had a man knocking on our door at night and trying to get in using a key when we opened the door and asked him why he was attempting to come in he acted like he didn’t understand what we were saying. We didn’t feel safe here the staff are rude. They have no manners and do not respect you if you aren’t their own people. They treat you very differently if you are an overseas citizen. The facilities for spa were also dirty, not cleaned daily. The steam room had a really bad smell, the massage people didn’t even have full staff they charged us for 45 mins of massage but one lady done two peoples massages within 20 mins, when we questioned them about this they again didn’t understand English and when I used Google translate they still acted as though they didn’t know what we are saying. Breakfast was another tragedy, there was no variety and again staff didn’t understand what we were asking for. When it came to checking out they came up with an outstanding bill of 470 Turkish liras due to the food we ordered the night our money was stolen, despite saying we didn’t have to pay. They threatened us and said they will call the police and tried to keep us quiet so other hotel users weren’t aware of the issues we were raising. Luckily we did meet two other females who were also from England and they experienced similar behaviour from hotel staff and experienced a man knocking on both their doors at 10/11pm. We felt as though they were targeting women only. I highly recommend people to STAY AWAY from this hotel unless you want to be treated poorly. This definitely isn’t a 5 star hotel it barely is a 1 star. They have no consideration of tourism and do not care about you if you aren’t...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at Golden Tulip Istanbul, and it pains me to recount the numerous issues that marred our visit. The hotel falsely claimed that we consumed items from the minibar that were never even in our possession. This blatant attempt to exploit us financially left a sour taste in our mouths.
As a group of four people, we booked four separate rooms, each with the expectation of a pleasant stay. However, the reality was far from our expectations. The alleged minibar charges were not only baseless but also indicative of a dishonest and unscrupulous management.
This was our first time in Istanbul, and regrettably, Golden Tulip turned what should have been an exciting exploration into a nightmare. The staff's attempt to take advantage of foreigners reflects poorly on the hotel's integrity and hospitality standards.
I strongly caution fellow travelers to think twice before choosing Golden
Our stay at Golden Tulip Istanbul was marred not only by deceitful practices but also by the disgraceful behavior of the manager, Furkan. From the outset, Furkan dealt with us in the worst way possible, displaying a complete lack of care and accountability for the issues we faced.
During our interaction with Furkan, he callously dismissed our concerns and insisted that we had consumed items from the minibar that were never in our possession. I personally had a Fanta from the minibar, which mysteriously didn't appear on the supposed list of charges. Furkan's disregard for our genuine complaints reflects a shocking lack of professionalism and customer service.
To compound matters, in another room, where we only had one item from the minibar, Furkan shockingly claimed that we had indulged in four items. This gross inaccuracy further highlights the extent to which he was willing to fabricate charges and exploit our group.
It's disheartening to encounter such dishonesty, especially from a manager who should be upholding the standards of the establishment. I implore future travelers to Golden Tulip Istanbul to be wary of Manager Furkan's lack of integrity and the hotel's questionable practices. Consider this a cautionary tale, urging you to choose accommodations where honesty and customer...
Read moreBooked a last minute package so hotel choices were limited. Was looking forward to this one with 5 stars, didn’t think the bad reviews could be that spot on. They are - this place is tired, no level of service, over priced and definitely not 5 star (should be 3 at best). Room in poor condition - damaged wardrobe door, broken hanging rail, carpets feel dirty but may just be old and worn, chipped sink. Put up with this initially. ||Breakfast has poor selection. Had to change room on third night due to cigarette smoke seeping in. Called reception. No one came up. I heard guest relations at breakfast tell another guest that even though their room was non smoking they could smoke if they opened the window. Broken hanging rail not fixed after letting reception know and them promising to fix it. ||After breakfast, spoke to guest relations. Changed room - supposed to move over packed luggage during day. Left important documents for them to put in a safe. Returned at 7.30pm. No new room allocated and things not moved; couldn’t find my documents initially - not out in a safe. Finally put in a new room, moved my things over dealing with child, had help of one porter. In the new room - broken had hand soap dispenser, telephone broken so couldn’t call down to reception (god knows what you’re supposed to do in an emergency), half used conditioner. When I went down to reception, no word of apology - they sent house keeping up with a bottle of shampoo to replace hand soap. Housekeeping very put out.||Anything but a 5⭐️ experience!! Wouldn’t stay here again. Not worth the money. Needs some money investing in training and...
