I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Sheraton Samsun, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel truly deserves its five-star rating, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Samsun.
One of the highlights of my stay was dining at Fora, the hotel's exquisite restaurant. The traditional Turkish dining experience was truly a delight. The restaurant's ambiance was charming, and the staff was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable about the Turkish cuisine. We paid $110 to use the pool. After paying , I asked where the locker rooms were, I was told that they only have changing rooms (booths) and don’t have lockers. I asked if there was any where we could leave our belongings since we had multiple bags we didn’t want to lug them around to the pool and cafe. I was told there was no way they could hold our belongings and that front desk wouldn’t either. I brush this off because I didn’t want to ruin the mood for the day.
We step on the beach section and the sand is covered in plastic trash and cigarette butts.
We go to the pool side and start swimming but after an hour it starts to rain and gets windy. I asked if we can use the indoor pool because of the weather and I’m told that the price we paid (6000 Turkish lira) doesn’t include the indoor pool. But when I had called in advance, I was told it did include the pools. I then asked if we could use the sauna and they said it has been closed since COVID began.
The pool’s front desk staff were very passive and made me feel so uncomfortable that I just gave up and left because I felt so disrespected.
This has been the worst Sheraton I’ve had the displeasure of wasting...

Sheraton disappointed me in China. Sheraton disappointed me in Europe. So I thought, okay, maybe the one in Samsun will finally be decent.
Yeah… no. Same story.
The room was old, tired, and smelled like sewage coming from the bathroom. The central ventilation only worked on heating mode — so every night I had to choose between freezing with the window open or suffocating from the stuffy air.
📞 Trying to call the front desk? Forget it. No one ever picks up. You can call every possible number — housekeeping, reception, room service — and still end up walking downstairs to ask in person.
The only thing I actually liked was the Turkish breakfast from room service. It was generous, fresh, and tasty — but that’s literally it.
💬 Bottom line: This hotel is absolutely not worth the money. Everything feels outdated, the service is nonexistent, and the whole vibe is like a run-down three-star trying to act fancy. Sheraton failed me. Again. Wouldn’t...
