We’ve just arrived back after a week stay at the Kulube Hotel. I’m not one for returning to the same place twice but this is definitely a hotel I would come back to. The hotel is in a quiet location and is perfect for a relaxing holiday. The hotel feels quite exclusive with its stunning views from every tier and friendly, attentive staff. The onsite spa is a real treat. I had a heavenly Japanese head spa and my husband and I enjoyed a couples Turkish bath. The girls at the spa are caring and professional. An absolute must if you want to enhance your experience with a bit of pampering. |The breakfast was fresh and light with a small selection of pastries, cold meat, cheese and fruit as well as an omelette station. The lunch and evening menus available at the hotel are very nice and reasonably priced. ||A short and cheap (approx £5 including tip) taxi ride takes you to a vibrant and pretty town and harbour where the choice of restaurants and bars is excellent. All the food we ate was delicious and acceptable prices (I would say comparably priced with the uk but better quality and service).||A few things to consider about the hotel and perhaps a couple of negatives (which don’t warrant knocking off points). Steps!! There are so many of them! I would advise that this hotel is not for anyone with mobility issues. We managed to get this holiday at an absolute bargain price so we were not expecting much from our room. I was right to think that way as our room really wasn’t great. It was tired and basic, with minimal furniture. Nowhere to do your hair and make up, broken hairdryer… and at the very top of yet more steps in the annex. Our room had a beautiful view but a tiny balcony where you couldn’t even put a chair on as it was so small (not that we had a chair in the room anyway!). So we couldn’t enjoy the view to its fullest. I appreciate that you don’t go on holiday to spend it in the room but I do like to enjoy a cuppa in the mornings and watch the sunrise so this was a bit disappointing. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in any of the rooms so next time, I would bring a travel kettle etc. The bed!! I can only describe as a medieval torture device!! That said, the room has the basic requirements of effective air conditioning, a small fridge, adequate bathroom and it’s clean. From speaking with other people at the hotel, it can be a bit pot luck with the rooms as I understand that there are some newly refurbished rooms with improved facilities. If it’s within your budget, I would recommend upgrading your room. ||A big bonus for us is that hotel staff love their animals. The 2 gorgeous dogs and several cats are well looked after and loved and feel part of the family. ||The small negatives really don’t warrant less than 5 stars for this hotel as it’s an absolute gem and I will definitely return next time I’m looking for a bit of...
Read moreMy girlfriend stayed here the year before we visited in a very basic level room and loved it so much that she insisted her and I went. We had an incredibly nice room that had a very modern and stacipus interior design with an en suite wet room bathroom. We stayed for 2 weeks during which time the staff went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Particularly the older gentleman and young girl that run the breakfast area and also the reception staff. Everywhere you go in this hotels area you have the most amazing view over the sea. I wasn't sure what to expect when i heard that there "isnt a beach there" but when you see the decking platforms built into the side of the hill with volcanic rock around you, it is extremely cool. There's plenty of space for people with easy access into the sea by either steps or ladders. The hotel itself is breakfast only however you can have a very nice lunch and dinner here without needing to go into town, which we did on several occasions. The atmosphere here is far more relaxed than other places I have stayed in Turkey, there's no loud music blaring its just the sound of the waves and having drinks brought to you down by the sea while you read, swim or do work emails (theres relateively good WIFI everywhere). The location of the hotel is in an extremely good area also, a very short transfer from the airport compared to Ishmala marmaris. You can be in the town or the marina which is where the best shopping and restaurants/ bars can be found in less than 5 minutes by taxi, which the hotel staff arranged for us every day as and when we needed. The air con is the room was exceptionally good. In conclusion I recommend that you visit this hotel, everything top to bottom exceeded my expectations. This is the perfect location for a couples retreat or to relax and recuperate, not just the staff but also the type of people you will meet as guests are all incredibly nice professionals. Only down side I can tell you is that there no "beach/ sand" and if you struggle with steps, needless to say the hotel is built into the hillside so there are steps to contend with but unless you have mobility issues you'll be fine. Another alternative would be to get a room with its personal inifinity pool which are situated at the top of the hotel, meaning no stairs to get to the...
Read moreThis hotel is in a fantastic part of Kalamar Bay outside of Kalkan, it's built on a hillside so it's all steps and a walk into Kalkan takes half an hour (slow pace in heat) On exiting the hotel you have to face cardiac Hill or the beer thirst builder as I called it, you'll need a cold drink afterwards for sure.
We had room 202 which is in the annexe, modern room with huge two level balcony and decent sea views, my only issue was the cushions on the furniture were dirty and the floors had not been swept, two rusty nails I nearly stood on, even the room floor could have been cleaner on arrival. Maybe the room was used for first time this season.
Food was good we had both lunch (burger and chips) and beer priced about 5€ for large Efes 500ml bottle the same as most places. Evening meal was also good and the setting is as good as anywhere in Kalkan to dine, beautiful by the coast, nice lighting.
This hotel has 3 pools one is saltwater, nobody really used them, they are good.
You can also swim in the sea with waiter service at your lounger.
Room had mini bar, I used it for my own drinks, no issue. There is no catering appliances in the room and nearest shop is up the cardiac hill.
Tours can be booked onsite if you wish for boat trips etc.
Reception will also order taxis for you, 220TL into Kalkan.
Our checkout was 12pm collection at 4, they held the cases in the office and let us used shower and changing rooms at Turkish baths so we were fresh for travel.
Can't fault this place, even when they tried to charge me for 2 cocktails at checkout which I never had, once they realised their mistake they gave us 2 drinks on the house to apologise.
Local cat with broken paw slept on our sofa on balcony, they said the vet already examined it. Cat is very friendly and seems happy.
So book with confidence but remember, it's steps hills and more steps but it's worth it.
PS Also very highly recommend a boat trip to Meis (kastellorizo), stunning place and also Salikent...
