I stayed in many hotels in Marmaris and this summer I wanted to check this hotel but big mistake !! Initially made a reservation for a specific room for 5 nights via a travel agency. For some reason, I then received a text message from the hotel saying that the room I reserved is for a different room (which is a lower quality room) Their reasoning was that the money I paid was not enough for the original room which did not make any sense to me. I then reached out to the travel agency and the agency again confirmed the correct room type but the hotel still insisted on their false claim and could not confirm my room. I could not get a reply from the hotel confirming my room. I got sick and tired of dealing with the hotel management and ended up canceling the reservation and only booked two nights for the lower room. The hotel manager was not helpful at all. When I went to the hotel I talked to the hotel manager about this and why they did not get back to me on my reservation, her answer was "we don't have to !!!!!" I was shocked to hear that. I knew immediately that I made a mistake coming to this place.||The restaurant was terrible. Most of the menu items are not available. Every time I order something I would get a response such as 'oh our pizza oven broke. no pizza today. No pide today. No lahmacun' or 'our pizza cook left the job suddenly and looking for a replacement' , bla bla.... And the food that is available to order from the menu took forever to get and the food quality was terrible. After seeing this I decided not to eat hotel anymore and went to the town of Marmaris instead for much cheaper much better quality food.||Beach is not bad but unfortunately, because of all the boats in the marina, it was not always clean. Especially in the afternoons, it would get dirty. You can see it in the pictures. I was afraid to put my head underwater because I did not feel safe. ||And the room we stayed.... Unfortunately, there is no way to cool your room when you are not in the room. As soon as you remove the key fob from the wall all electricity shuts down and the air conditioner does not work. So every time we come to our room it felt like we are in a sauna. While in the room air conditioning works but the air comes right above where you sleep so direct cold air hits you which makes it impossible to sleep at night. When you turn it off room gets hot and sticky very quickly. We actually all got sick by the end of the stay due to hot cold hot cold in the room. The hotel should allow customers to cool the room while they are at the beach instead of being cheap and trying to save electricity.||This hotel can be a decent place with a proper hotel manager, a proper restaurant, and a clean sea but as it is, I would not recommend...
Read moreDISAPPOINTING!!! - Very disappointing hotel and bad management. Make sure you read the negative reviews before you book this place.
On our first night, we realised our Air Con. was making an unbearable noise, almost sounds like there is an animal in the room. We called the frontdesk and requested a solution. Since it was very late, they couldn’t get any technician to help us. So, we wanted to be transferred to another room and ended up downgrading to cheaper room. We also said we are ok staying back in the new room for all of our holiday, since moving luggages again would be a hassle.
Next day, we expected a very natural apology from hotel management about this inconvenience. However, nobody seemed to care and they were completely ignorant.
On checkout, we’ve been told by reception that they won’t be rufunding us since moving rooms was our decision and air con. was fully functioning. We couldn’t believe what we heard since a ‘functioning air con with a horrible noise’ shouldn’t count as ‘functioning’. We asked if we can speak to the hotel manager and been told that he knows about the problem and he can’t help us. So this is how he chose to deal with unhappy customers!
The refund we should’ve got was only 200TL so the reason we’re angry was not even the money. It is how they treated us like we’re guilty and the fact that the hotel management was lacking of basic hospitality and service rules.
OTHER ISSUES On our arrival, there was no introduction to the hotel, its facilities and surroundings. We simply asked around to learn how everything works, which is definitely not expected from a 4 star Hotel. Even small Bed & Breakfast places provide this as a standard. Room was not properly cleaned, shower felt like it wasn’t cleaned for days. See image attached. There was no glasses, kettle or any other amenities in the room. Again, this is standard in even small holiday places. Some beach towels were really dirty, still gross marks on them. Both rooms had a very damp and musty smell.
To sum up, we didn’t feel welcome at all in JOYA and didn’t enjoy our stay. Hotel management failed dealing with problems and didn’t show any care.
It is a shame because the hotel is in a lovely location and the beach is very nice. The rooms are also nicely designed. However, this premium location deserves a better...

We’re currently enjoying a 10-day romantic getaway at Hotel Joya Del Mar in Marmaris, Turkey, celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary with another couple who are our closest friends. We've traveled extensively over the years and stayed at many excellent resorts and hotels around the world—but this one has quickly become one of our absolute favorites.
From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the hotel’s charm and warmth. Our standard room with a sea view is right on the beach and features a very comfortable king-size bed—perfect for relaxing while listening to the gentle sounds of the sea.
This is an all-inclusive hotel, and the food has been nothing short of outstanding. The variety and quality are impressive, and the Turkish cuisine in particular is exceptional—elevated, flavorful, and truly unforgettable.
What really makes Joya Del Mar special, however, is the staff. We’ve never experienced such genuinely friendly and caring service. While not all staff members are fluent in English, they more than make up for it with warmth and sincerity. I had a minor request on our first day that was initially overlooked, but the way the staff responded afterward was above and beyond—offering multiple kind gestures and attention that truly touched us.
A special mention must go to Gizem and Emre at the reception—two incredibly polite, helpful, and gracious young people who made us feel truly welcomed.
The beach is small but beautiful, a perfect spot to unwind. The only slight downside is the nearby yacht club, which partially obstructs the view. But considering Marmaris is the yacht capital of Turkey, it's a common sight and doesn’t detract much from the overall experience.
We are deeply grateful for this unforgettable stay and will absolutely recommend Hotel Joya Del Mar to all our friends. We sincerely hope to...
