Grand Efe — Hotel in Menderes

Hotel on approach and initial reception area looked promising. The room was ok but after being there for a while you notice a couple of things. As the day goes on the bathroom starts to smell like a sewer/urine as it must go in a sump. Had to run the shower and leave it on to water down and get rid of foul smell as there is no window or ventilation.|The pool is ok but does get crowded and the slides were fun.|Good location on the beach with good swimming in a marked area. |Beach jetski and ‘banana rides but very expensive for the amount of time they give you. 60 euros for 15 minutes.|The location-not much in the way of walking distance.|So the main reason it got a low score was the food. Now I visit lots of places and have been to many different star hotels. This is advertised as 4 star. The food was not that inspiring and for a ‘4star’ there was very little in the way of choice. The main problem is that 89% of the food had flies constantly landing on it. On the mains, on the bread on the salads on the deserts. Sit at the table and flies. Sit on the veranda for a drink at night-flies, sit on the sunbeds-flies. So off putting and definitely not a 4 star, I would give it a 3...

First of all I wouldn't give it 4 stars, 3 is more suitable. Hotel itself is good, big, has all facilities. It's clean. Swimming pool is ok, has slides and it's fun. Kids pool is great too. Food is decent. It's almost same every day but there is enough different meals. You have coffee and tea machines, also juice and water. Beach is small, it's pebble, not sandy. After lunch sea becomes wavy and it's not good for swimming. It's not kids friendly either. Now the bad sides. Restaurant is always crowded. Breakfast is from 7-10, lunch 12.30-14h only and dinner 19-21h. Lunch time too short. There is no WiFi. I mean there is, but it's so slow that it's not usable at all. In the 21st century, when internet is so cheap and available I still can't understand why it's like that here. If You don't "reserve" sun bed with towel early in the morning, it's most likely You won't find place on the beach and next to the swimming pool. Almost non of the stuff speak a single word of English! There is no ventilation or AC in the gym. There is parking under the trees...

We used this hotel for daily for pool/beach and lunch. The positive things are helpful, nice and smiling staff. Nice grassy place for sun beds under the tree shadows. The clean and cool sea water. The sea level quickly drops and it can be wavy so don't expect long shallow beach. It was fun to catch the waves and laugh with my 5 year old. ||The negative things, small hotel. I think it deserves 3 stars actually. The loud and tasteless selection of music is extremely annoying in the pool area. There isn't a peaceful spot here so I cant imagine staying here for a week. Cleanness overall looks ok. The food at the lunch was really average. Not many selection of main dishes but good selection of salads and cold appetizers. I felt some sour-bad taste on some might not be so fresh such as the corn salad. ||You can still survive and spend a week if you want to save some money from vacation but the music...
