Unethical and Hostile Treatment – Avoid This Property

I had a truly disappointing and stressful experience at Mavi Patika Bungalove during my stay in July 2025.

First, I was charged twice - once for my own confirmed booking (which was expected), and again without my consent to cover a separate booking made by a friend under their own Booking.com account. The hotel admitted they charged me because my friend’s card didn’t go through. This is unethical and completely unauthorized. I had no responsibility for another guest’s payment, yet my card was misused.

Second, the room I received was not the one I booked. It was much smaller and unsuitable for my family, despite the booking being for four people. When I raised the issue, I was told it was a “honeymoon suite” and actually more expensive a claim that didn’t match the reality of the space at all.

Instead of resolving the situation professionally, the staff became aggressive and threatening. They told me I was being “rude” simply for asking why I was double-charged and given a smaller room. They went as far as preparing a handwritten “contract termination” letter, threatening to kick us out and call the police or consulate.

What should have been a relaxing trip turned into a stressful ordeal.

My advice: Avoid this property. If you value professionalism, transparency, and peace of mind during your holiday, this is not the place. There are many beautiful, guest-friendly spots in Rize, this was not...

Highly recommend. The place is stunning. High up (but not too high up) lodge with views of the black sea to the left and nature straight on and to the right. Cosy room with a jacuzzi, android tv, modern bathroom and a 2nd floor for the bedroom with a balcony. Host Mustafa was the nicest most genuine person you'd meet, always on hand through Google translate if you can't speak English (like us) and will help in anyway he can. The breakfast was awesome and filling, full turkish experience. Food places are around 5/7 drive but if you don't drive expect to walk 30 mins. We stayed here for three days, and it was amazing! Really loved every aspect of our stay. Everything was super clean, the views were spectacular, the owners were very welcoming and kind. The breakfast was super tasty and the atmosphere relaxing and quiet. I only wish they had a kitchen, so that we could have stayed longer, because we love cooking for our family.
