Must be a new hotel. Rooms were hot. It’s summer. We rented 3 rooms one night. Each room was 26 degrees Celsius when we came. We turned the AC on high. The temperature did not change. Called front desk and told them to turn it to 20. They said they did. That was 11pm. At 6 am it was SLIGHTLY cooler maybe 24. Not enough. All three rooms were hot. It’s a new hotel and claims to be 5 star. But this was not 5 star. I’ve been in many. But it was very nice aside from this and some gross mold in the corners of the shower. Room 414. I e found this lack of attention to detail in normal in Turkiye even in very high end Marriott’s. I live in Turkiye. We stayed one night and had to move on for other reasons. Also, the breakfast is $25 per person. Normally, my Marriott experience has led me to pay the extra breakfast cost per room per night. So all 3 people in the room get breakfast. They would not allow this. I asked twice before checkin. Once on the phone and once in person. They sent me a personal handwritten letter and chocolates etc. also, in Turkiye I normally get this response if there’s a negative review,”Dear Mr Ross, if you would have made these things known to us, we would have gladly corrected them…” putting the onus back on me. I’ve done this so many times: I’d rather have a good temperature room and a perfectly cleaned bathroom if I’m going to stay at the MARRIOTT. If not, I can go to any local chain and get good service but with things wrong with the room. I’m glad I used points and did not have to pay for these rooms as my status allows me to travel sometimes free. Finally, I did alert them to the main problem which was the temperature. As a former builder myself, my opinion is they are keeping the AC off in entire blocks of the building and when someone checks in they cannot cool the rooms fast enough. I believe this is economic in nature and they are trying to save money on a huge building. The facilities were beautiful and the pricing was convenient. If they can keep rooms cool and check the showers better, more foreign tourists will choose it. Everything else...
Read moreWriting this after spending 8 nights in 2 separate visits, few weeks apart. Stayed here as the location worked for my work but for tourists the location is not good.||Hotel is ok. Reception is grand, cosy and inviting. Rooms I stayed in were spacious and overlooked the sea. Most Staff were knowledgeable, spoke good English and helpful. ||Roof restaurant has good views at sunset but is way overpriced. Breakfast is very average. Lots of choice but basic quality. Often with wrong labels next to dishes and occasional flies over soft fruit and nuts! ||Your complete experience will depend on your luck. My room had bath and shower. In my 1st visit couldn't use the shower as it was so clogged up. Called reception but no one bothered to come. A/C controls are a joke. 1st visit the room was too warm despite setting desired temperature. 2nd visit was too cold . Temperature controls simply don't work. My colleagues who were staying here at the same time had same experience.||On 2nd visit had a problem with room window which couldn't be shut as lock was broken. When it rained some water was coming in so called reception who sent someone to fix it at 2am. Guy promptly came so kudos to hotel for having maintenance guys available in middle of the night but he couldn't fix the lock. So ended up drilling and screwing the window frame to permanently close window in the middle of the night.||Also on 2nd visit very strange to see some guests walking around with blood stained bandages on head after hair transplants. Hotel can't control what it's guests do but it was very strange and I wouldn't want to be having breakfast with these guys nearby!||In summary a good hotel if you need something in the area but your experience won't be...
Read moreI work as a pilot and spend some part of the month staying at this hotel that the company has an agreement with. After my flight on 29th April, I checked into the hotel at around 12 at night. I was given room number 108 on the first floor of the 17-story hotel. When I entered the room, I encountered a strong smell of cigarette smoke inside. (My request was for a non-smoking room) I wanted to air out the room but I couldn't, because the air outside was quite cold and windy. I wanted to start the a/c system but hot air mode of the air conditioning system could not be selected from the electronic panel and it did not work. In addition, the room faced the D100 highway, one of the busiest roads in Istanbul, and the noise from the highway was inside the room as it was on the first floor. Guests in the other rooms of the same floor kept walking in and out of the room and sIamming the doors all night. I went into the bathroom and the sink faucet was broken. I looked at the dual beds and they were the size of a child's bed. (not even a twinn bed was provided. I am 190 cm tall). When I called the reception and requested a room change, I was told that the hotel was full, my request was noted, and if there was a vacancy, my request would be met. What good would it do if they gave me a king suite after I spent the night restless and sleepless and went to the flight the next day without getting enough rest? I condemn this thoughtless and careless attitude of the hotel towards the flight crew. I wouldn't stay at this hotel for even a minute if it wasn't a hotel contracted...
