This was headed for a 5 star review based on our first night. It was inexpensive in points. Breakfast was really excellent with a large range which included menimen, self-made waffles with maple syrup and excellent coffee. Staff were numerous, helpful and attentive. Our chosen main courses at dinner were also well received, and staff attentive.||But on return for our second night after 5pm, having gone out before 10, our room had not been touched, with our towels still on the floor in accordance with the guidance. It was then soon done. But on going to dinner super early to avoid the time when we were told that it would be busy with a tour party (a two coach tour party) we were told that we were only permitted to sit in the bar area at one of the 2 tables - though it seemed that other non-tour guests seemed to be allowed other tables. Service was predictably poor. Worse, arriving just after 6am for breakfast, early to avoid the tour party as advised, they were already present. And all our preferred menu items, so praiseworthy the previous day, had disappeared and no waiting staff were in evidence. The two kitchen staff were clearly working very, very hard but were unable to provide the previous days service.||No doubt tour groups are welcomed by hotels. But they should not be if they cannot take sufficient measures to avoid significant detriment to...
Read moreThe hotel seems either new or recently renovated, and it is convenient to a main street with plenty of shops and restaurants. It is, however, not near the more historic shops and restaurants. We walked to there, down the valley and back up - it was quite a hike. Fortunately, taxis are affordable, and, if one is comfortable with mini-busses, it is a short walk to the mini-bus terminal down the main street - maybe a ten minute walk.||Breakfast was plentiful, with many fresh selections, although the staff didn't seem as organized as the rest of the hotel.||The bathtub/shower floor in our room was very slippery. We told reception, and they have probably added some kind of non-slip.||We were particularly pleased with the professionalism of reception. They handled some difficult, demanding...
