Emirtimes Hotel is kind of a mixed bag. Location is okay if you have business near it. Otherwise it’s not really near anything, and the neighbourhood is in transition. A lot of buildings are brand new, and next to them you may have something that looks like it should be in an impoverished village. Like next to the hotel there’s a building with chickens. It is near Sabiha Gökçen - even has a shuttle service -, and not too far from Viaport, but you will need a car to get to both. The hotel inside is opulent on the surface. Kind of old-school Turkish decoration with browns, greens and gold. The room is like this as well. The bed is good, but make sure you ask for non-smoking, because they do have smoking rooms. The fridge was old, had rust and wasn’t too clean. I actually stayed there twice in a week. In the second room the chairs probably haven’t been cleaned in a while, because around the edges they were pretty dirty. There was a very loud fan going on in the room if you had the main lights turned on. In the bathroom there was a went that had all sorts of sounds coming in from other rooms, and I could cover that with a handle on the side, but I could still hear some shouting going on above me still. Breakfast was great. The Bulgarian lady at breakfast is a sweetheart. Don’t expect lactose-free milk though, if you’re intolerant. Though that’s common in Turkey. They do have Turkish breakfast, but I didn’t try it as I was on a strict diet. The soup was nice though. In a rush having one tea and one coffee station was frustrating. Besides the cleaning, my main other issue with the hotel was the smell coming from outside. I’m not sure where it came from, but on both days I smelled it. The fans inside the room helped somewhat. The smell was a sulphuric one. I’m guessing from a factory nearby. Overall, the issues with the hotel are fixable. Get new fridges, and a strict head of housekeeping. I worked at a hotel where for a while I had this wonderful head of housekeeping, and she kept such a tight ship, there was never a problem. Once she left, well, let’s just say I really missed her. Goes to show you how important good staff is. I don’t know about the smell though. Check out my video on my channel, Izzy’s Travel Diaries, for more information.

I didn't give 1 star just because of the person taking the luggage and the lady in the restaurant, who were the only 2 people qualified to work in a customer service hotel environment. The reception staff treated us very bad and we nearly lost our flight because of the incompetence and lack of care of the reception lady in the morning. We asked her why she doesn't smile and make eye contact and she responded very arrogantly that we have nothing to expect of her early in the morning like that. And when the taxi she was supposed to call (she knew we are in a hurry to go to the airport) was 20 minutes late, and my husband asked her why is she not doing her job, since we paid for the hotel services and we were a guest there, she responded again arrogantly that she is not there to serve anyone. Also in the night when we arrived, the other reception man, was addressing me by my first name in fron of my husband, as if we are work colleagues, not in a respectful manner you address to a customer. NEVER coming back here again!! Broken towels, old room and bad atmosphere.

Rotten food served daily! Place is in an industrial area, not nearly as indicated 'close to local attractions' Rent a car whne you get to the airport and travel yourself as taxi fares are excessive. Room is OK however nothing works, our of the 4 plus only 2 functioned so choose between charging your phones or kettle or TV or the fridge. The hotel doenst offer plug adaptors so bring your own. Water form the taps were brown when you first open them snd left some residue in the bath tub, needless to say we checked into another hotel for the alternate days. The food is horrid! Rotten cucumbers and tomato served daily The omlettes (cold and dry and hard) were form the day before I am sure of it. No management on duty until 1pm I'm told so complaining wasn't even worth the words as nothing changed Honestly, better places to visit for the Same price. I have to day, the best feature was the airport transfer driver, Hecer. Incredibly friendly and helpful. Everything else is a skip.
