This is the best place for peace and quiet you can find in the Ft Portal area. Have stayed here many times times and each time the service, food, rooms and everything else is consistently great. Rooms are spacious and very clean. They have 3 buildings of bungalows away from the main building and a few family sized houses. Those who love tenting have areas here. Everything is spread out so there is a real feeling of privacy. The staff are always amazing and very accommodating. The grounds are absolutely amazing. When you come in the gate it is as if you entered a different world. They have more kinds of flowers and foliage than you can count. They keep everything well groomed. There are trails through the forested area on the property where you can view monkeys and all sorts of birds. The property is very secure and safe. The food is very good; steak is some of the best I have tasted here. So many of the staff have been here for many years. Having lived in Uganda for many years, I would rate this place higher than anywhere else I have stayed. The prices are reasonable considering how amazing the place is. It is a far better value than Kyaninga Lodge or others in the area. The only place to get WiFi is in the restaurant area. I bring a small MIFI with me...
Read moreKluges Guestfarm is a wonderful place. What’s so good? Several things. The setting in the lovely green countryside near Fort Portal. The garden full of flowers, trees and colourfull birds. The clean rooms with everything you need, and a veranda overlooking the garden. A small clean and nice swimming pool. The very, very good food, all freshly made, including the bread and lots of veggies from the garden. Best of all: the people. They welcome you like family. Don’t just book here for a night. There is a lot to do, of course chimpanzee tours and national parks, but much more. Like visiting the Mabale tea factory, the Crater Lakes, the botanical garden, caves, springs, vibrant Fort Portal with some good shops, walking the paths on the beautiful premise or just sitting on the veranda reading a book. We were there for six nights and felt we could have added another week. The road from the airport to the Guestfarm is sometimes good and sometimes in bad shape. It’s safe to drive and there’s petrol on the way everywhere. We rented a Toyota 4 wheeldrive and it did the job. Driving yourself is part of the experience and it’s nice to be independent having your own transport. Thank you...
Read moreWe stayed twice at this place - three nights each stay. It is a marvelous place on a "living" farm with a spectacular garden and a rainforest with Colobus Monkeys. The rainforst you can experience yourself or on a guided tour with one of their staff.
We stayed on the campground with two vans: one Roof top tent and one campervan. The Campground has a perfect layout and is levelled. The ablutions with toilet and hot showers are very clean. There are two sink to clean the dishes, two large covered shelters to sit when the sun is shining or when it is raining - both with powerpoint. There are night guards to secure the whole area.
The owners, Stefan and Mariam Kluge, are caring and warmharted hosts. These two and their staff are extremely supportive and helpful. They booked for us a chimpanzee trekking in the Kibale Forest NP and a guided hike in the crater lake area.
The restaurant offers very good food at reasonable prices.
We enjoyed the stay a lot; sitting at the bonfire with a cold beer, facing the Rwenzori Mountains was just astonishing.
A great place that we...
