I stayed at the Garuga Resort Beach Hotel with a friend in May 2018. It was an amazing stay. After 2 days in Kampala, we really wanted to spend some time in a quite place. We took an Uber from Kampala, and were amazed by the beautiful views when we arrived at the hotel. Everything looked very luxurious. Although the property is a bit far from the main road, we had everything we needed for some days of sun and relax. Besides, we had all meals included in our fare, so there was no need to leave the resort. The hotel was very empty, we really do not understand why. For us it did not matter, because this meant that we had a private pool. However, I really hope for the sake of the hotel, and because of how amazing this place is, that more tourists will get to explore this place. It is true what other reviewers write, that not everything from the menu in the restaurant was available, but it is completely understandable as there were almost no guests (a lot of food would have gone to waste if everything would be available!). Besides, the available options were very good, especially the fish curry, chapatti and the chicken burger. We chose to have room service for breakfast every day so that we could really enjoy our holidays and sleep long. The rooms are really nice with a spectacular view of Lake Victoria (absolutely above and beyond our expectations). However, I would recommend the hotel to make some shelves in the bathroom, because we had nowhere to put our stuff in there. The hotel staff was outstanding! Stuart and Wilson were great; very friendly and helpful, and Phiona “Fi FI” was truly amazing and really did everything she could to make our stay unforgettable! We really miss you! ||||I definitely recommend this place to everyone who wants to relax for some days in a resort with green scenery, monkeys running around and beautiful views of Lake Victoria away from...

Great outdoor space for groups and families. Section of road is in a terrible state but when you arrive, you will fortget all the problems.

For first timers, i advise you travel before sunset coz the road signs are faint and havent been replaced in a long time.

The rooms ae fine with a few renovations lacking.

You ask for junior suite. The have supebviews of the garden and lake.

Fish fish and chips was my favourite though the first meal was almost burnt with alot of cooking oils on it. The next day, i made same order and was done well.

Carry own swimming costume. There is a children pool and adult swimming pool. Complimentary to resident guests.

I took swim in the #LakeVictoria while it was also raining at the sametime. The water was warm and shoreline not deep😎😎

The team led by Ms. Bonita and Ms. Nakibuuka are doing a great job to keep this place alive though you will see big gap between the team on site and top management.

Breakfast presentation was terrible. No toaster, no cereals. They said was buffet but there was no egg station to make own choice. They could only offer omelette. The juice and fruits got finished before reaching the serving table. 😤😤😤

I know the owner of this place for a long time and should have shared these concerns with him but i know him as stubbon person.

I hope he will make time to read and understand my concerns and hopefully make time to improve this hidden ofthe-beaten-track destination.

I will visit again during...

The staff is nice, but the owner is leaving them and doesn't seem to care about the place obviously. When I arrived, they didn't know I was coming, although I booked days in advance. The room is absolutely not sound proof, it has a mosquito raster instead of windows in some places. Which would be nice, if the place didn't pretend to be a nightclub with such loud music I couldn't even think of what I wanted to order. The room has a cheap bar of shampoo as "amenities" , no bottles of drinkwater. A shower with cold water that is suppose to be "hot". I don't know why they have a menu, because you can only have for lunch "what they have in the house". And charge more than average what is listed on the menu for their only option that day. The wifi is barely there, certainly not in all areas. Only the reception. If it is there it is extremely slow. So only go here if you expect to not be online. I checked out early, because I am not comfortable here at all and even though I announced my departure 24h in advance, a refund was not given for the night I don't use. The receptionist called the owner and he simply said: "no". I feel sorry for the staff. I was offered an upgrade, but because the room I booked wasn't available upon arrival I had already switched before. Next to that, it would not solve my issues with the menu/wifi and hot water. I am done here and I just...

If you go with your food, they charge a lot of money. You pay 5,000 shs for the entrance. Another 5,000 shs for the food that you bring outside. 5,000 shs for the drink that you bring from outside. 20,000 is for the charcoal stove that you use for cooking your food. Indeed, they don’t provide you the stove and the charcoal. They just ask the money for using the venue. The volleyball court needs cleanliness. The view and other environment is nice and it is worth to visit it but you hustle to go there all the way from kampala. Spend that much fuel and after arriving you end up spending more money than eating from the restaurant there. It used to be 10,000 shs for entrance per person, if you enter with your food but now they added lots of other expenses.

The space is great for a great way. The great breeze makes blows the experience for lodging and the morning view exceptional. However the food was over priced and the fries Abit burnt (Asked for Pork ribs which an 1hr and 17 mins late Which is not the problem but after the wait was only given one pork rib with excuse they had messed up my order) but the price was maintained. The road to the venue is horrible. Deep and large pot holes with large stones(rocks). U will need atleast a high ground car or a 4wd. Can't imagine wat wud happen if it happens to rain

"Henry" made our stay bearable. So the stars belong to him. Dude checked if we had eaten, how our stay was. He actually went extra mile and I commend him for that. Otherwise the food was just ok. Chips chicken and fish is almost all they have. And they are kinda slow. So you have to bear. The rooms are clean very but they have dodos 😂😂😂. I loved the pool area. It's a quite place. A good place for resting!
