Tidy describes this place. You would lose a bet trying to find a spec of dust or cobweb in this hotel.
Right from the reception, you will forget that you've arrived in Fort Portal and think you are still in the capital city.
As large as the waiting area is, you would expect to find large rooms too and your expectations would be matched.
The receptionists are warm and welcoming people. They will greet you with smiles as though they are trying to tame you but you later realise it's just them being naturally good people.
Stepping into my room as a first timer gave me the same pounding heart just like any other new experience would.
You will be met by a weight of a freshness that fills these rooms. Apart from just being tidy, the level of cleanliness is something that would inspire you to not do any filth.
The room is endowed with a large bed having sparkling beddings and soft pillows. I like the idea of having the mattress sitting on a wooden platform. There's a dressing mirror that gives you a full view of what you look like. A small closet is installed to help you organise your personal property. A small fridge is available for you to keep those personal drinks cold. A TV faces your bed and so you have no reason to sit while watching your preferred channel.
To help you fight the coldness, the bathrooms have hot water in them. Other bathroom essentials are availed to you just in case you forgot to carry yours.
Although i couldn't risk my health sitting on the balcony due to the extreme coldness, i was able to check it out. There is a chair and socket in case you prefer to sit out and work or binge watch.
The breakfast here is something you should feel guilty for missing out. A range of options to eat are prepared. The chef and waiters/waitresses are always on their toes to see to it that you are eating with brighly lit face.
Overall, nice place, nice people, nice scenery. I recommend Kalya Courts to anyone wishing to have a good stay in...
Read moreThere were pros and cons with this hotel, but overall it was a solid option for our team of 3 who were visiting the area for 2 weeks of work around Fort Portal. ||PROS:|- The housekeeping is outstanding. They make the room shine and sparkle every day. Great attention to detail.|- The food at the restaurant was always very tasty. A nice variety of Ugandan and western options.|- The staff is super friendly and accommodating. They helped us print documents multiple times and always responded to any requests quickly and with a smile.|- The beds, for me, were very comfortable and always gave a good nights' sleep.|- The hotel grounds are beautiful, peaceful and quiet.||CONS:|- The wifi almost never worked well anywhere in the rooms or restaurant. I ended up using a lot of mobile data to be able to take calls online for work.|- I had some hit-or-miss experiences with hot water in my shower. Some days it would just never get hot, but I did mention this to the front desk and they quickly sorted something out while I was away. |- The hotel hallways are quite noisy. Because of the tiling/concrete, sound bounces around and you can hear everybody and everything. I was 4 rooms down from the front desk, but could hear every phone call and conversation there. Could also hear nearly every movement from my neighbors on both sides and above. ||Overall, it was a solid affordable option, but could have a few tweaks to make it...
Read moreThe hotel and the rooms are ok. What I would not recommend is the half board. Our experience with the restaurant was no good. They take super long to prepare the food. Also our dinner was included in the price, do we advised in the restaurant. First they wanted us to pay in the restaurant, we explained we had half board, so they gave us the note to sign to send it to the reception. When doing the check out, again we were requested to pay for the dinner, and again we needed to explain that the dinner was included. The receptionist confirmed it was included but insisted that we had to pay because “she did not know if that bill was for dinner or an additional bill”. In the end we could clarify everything, though they tried to blame us saying we did not advise to the restaurant dinner was included (probably I told them more than 4 times as they insisted us to pay. It does not make sense that you have to spend this time discussing if you have to pay or not for dinner, also the attitude was not good, as if we want to avoid any charges… If you want customers to have a good experience these details must...
