First let me confess that I hesitated to give this place a "poor" review, because I don't wish to imply that it is a bad place. But it isn't an outstanding or excellent propery, it is only average and this time it fell short of things that I would hope could be quickly corrected -- and, if so, I would be happy to stay there again.||||The room itself had a large double bed and a smaller single bed for four of us. This was not a problem, we knew this when booking and the room was as described and even a bit nicer than anticipated. My wife and I took the double and our girls (who are still pretty small) shared the single. There was also a desk and a nice couch, so it was a very comfortable room for the four of us at this age.||||The beds were comfortable and had mosquito netting. But this was the first small thing where they failed us. While our bed had mosquito netting, it was too small for the bed, and didn't close. What good is mosquito netting that won't keep out mosquitos?||||There was a balcony, didn't overlook anything, but people might still enjoy it. The problem was that it was behind a curtain that was closed to block light when we arrived and I thought it was just closing off a window. Only when we opened the curtain in the morning did we discover the balcomy and the door to it that stood open all night long. A major security concern for me.||||The bathroom was designed as it typical in many Ugandan homes (including mine) with the shower directly in front of the toilet. This creates a problem in that using the toilet after someone has taken a shower means getting your feet and/or your pants wet. We solve this by providing a squeegie to push the water down the drain so the floor dries out quicker; but none was provided here. And in higher quality hotels, the bath would be designed to completely avoid this problem. I also experienced that when I turned on the hot water it was cold. OK, it can take a minute to warm up so I let it run. But a minute later it wasn't warm, it was gone. Fortunately there was still cold water, but no more water would come out of the tap when just the hot water was turned on. Also, there were no places to hang clothes while taking a shower to keep them dry. Additionally, the bathroom was seperated off from the rest of the room by just a flmsy shower curtain. That was fine for modesty, but it didn't keep water from leaking into the room so clothes I had dropped outside the shower still got wet. And finally, remember, we had reservations for 4, but they only provided 1 towel for our entire family. Not something that one enjoys finding at 6am. As you can see the majority of my complaints have to do with the design and provisions in the bath, should the hotel attend to these, it would make for a much better experience and higher rating.||||Other good things my family enjoyed: the pool, suana, steam room. I didn't need the loud music being played down at the pool, but they turned it off shortly after 9pm so it didn't disturb our sleep any. The WiFi worked well in the evening, but we were unable to connect to it in the morning. Maybe they changed the password overnight, I don't know, I didn't have time in the morning to worry about it.||||Probably the nicest thing about the hotel was their flexibility. I chose to stay here because I had to come to Gulu for a meeting, the kids were out of school and my wife has friends in Gulu, so we made a family trip out of it. They had no problem with everyone else staying and using the hotel as a base for the day while I was at my meeting even after check out. Much...
Read moreThe hotel itself was magnanimous, being large, and beautiful with a balcony down the hall for guests to enjoy and a conference room for any purposes, such as when my fiancee got her hair done. The room itself was huge and also had it's own balcony. Despite this luxury, it was only 75,000 ugx per night! Very affordable, and less than half the price of a nearby hotel, Peniel, which I stayed at for two nights previously. The pool and other amenities, including a gym, sauna, steam, bar and everything else was wonderful, and open until late at night. The restaurant was also very nice, and convenient, bringing room service... although it was a little expensive, at 35000 a plate, but the food was really good, so it was worth it. They also allowed us to have an engagement part there with my fiancee's family. The staff was all extremely friendly, and one guy even personally went for a job with me down the street. The owner, a man named Patrick, was extremely friendly and kind, and a man of God. He became a personal friend of ours whom we spoke with every night. |All that being said, one thing did bother me: there were no screens on the windows, meaning that we had to shut them at night in order to avoid the mosquitos. Also there was no fan in the room, which made it hot.|But hey, it's Africa, and as far as bang for your buck does, this is the...
Read moreWorst hotel I have ever visited, half if not all the things advertised about it are false, it does not offers its rate's worth.
No hot water in the suites' bathroom, TV was busted, meals were stale and lacked creativity (breakfast).
The staff were so unpleasant with an attitude problem, I wondered if it was a language problem, or that is just who they were.
The rooms are musty and in dire need of renovation, though they claim to have safes in the rooms, all the suites I looked at before I chose one did not have a safe.
I would never return here nor recommend...
