We were disappointed by this hotel, which is rather highly and undeservedly talked up by Bradt's Uganda. Most staff seemed indifferent, in contrast to everywhere else we stayed (all Nature Lodges) where they were very friendly. Our room was somewhat shabby and oddly enough, considering we had also stayed in tents in the bush and forest, seemed to be the hotel where nature most tried to intrude. The windows have screens and the bed had netting, but the door and window frames had gaps, the bathroom window wouldn't latch shut, and the net didn't close all the way on one side. We battled mosquitoes and large ants, which swarmed out of the sugar dish that was in the room when we arrived and wandered about the floor all night. The room was also very stuffy despite the pleasant night air, although thank goodness there was a fan!||||In theory there was wifi, but I had to ask four staff members before one knew the correct network and password, and then she told me unhelpfully that it wouldn't be turned on until "later." On further inquiry, this meant "about 6" (it was 5:56). She did redeem my opinion of the staff somewhat when she sought us out later to take us to the hot spot around reception. However, the connection turned out to be so slow that most emails wouldn't load and it took about 15 minutes to get a simple text-only email out. We do understand this is Africa but we traveled in Tanzania last year and had reasonably useful wifi in every hotel, even the remote ones little used...
Read moreWe stayed here on our way to Murchison Falls.room large and comfortable with air con and mosquito nets.||||Initially there were two different sources of music blaring out in the afternoon but staff did switch off one when asked.||||However I was celebrating a birthday on the day we stayed here. My husband unbeknown to me asked the staff if they could do a cake for me.They produced a lovely cake with my name iced on it and served outside at tables with flowers, and a camp fire. The supermoon that night added to it along with the 60s music playing ! ||||All in all it made for a memorable birthday evening in an otherwise long day of driving and the staff went to extra effort...
Read moreBest kept secret in Hoima, quiet and locked away but worth finding. They have the best breakfast in Hoima, trust me I have stayed at several hotels in Hoima. You can't beat them on that. I am personally not so crazy about cottages but I tend to like it here. Very nice garden, they preserved many trees here makes it look like a botanical garden so if you are into nature you will love their gardens. Nice bar and gym. The conference halls are also good. Can't comment much on the conference facilities since I have not attended a conference there to give a holistic view of their conference services. Over all, great...
