I booked a night at the Miika Eco Resort because I had an on-line business meeting scheduled with the USA and Canada and wanted a hotel with good internet. The Miika promotes itself as a conference destination so I figured if any place in Hoima would have good connectivity this would be it. Wrong!! ||||Firstly, the good news. This really is a lovely looking place. The rooms are in single level units each with a small terrace out the front. The grounds are full of lovely vegetation and there is a stream running through between the sleeping units and the conference center and open air restaurant/bar. My room was as close as I have come to an international standard hotel room outside of the main Ugandan cities with a big bed, fridge, kettle, desk with convenient power outlet, anti-room outside the bathroom with a big closet and good a/c unit. The hotel also accepted credit cards which is pretty uncommon in Uganda.||||And then to the no so good. The wifi was appallingly bad and made even worse by 2 power cuts which seemed to be deliberate "to fix something" but I may have misunderstood. Whatever the cause it just added to the frustration. The internet did not work at all in the evening and I ended up having to participate in the scheduled meeting using my US cell phone. ||||The open restaurant/bar was very attractive and there was no issue with lunch, however, we waited around an hour from when dinner was ordered until it was delivered and we were the only diners! Breakfast was included but served in an inside restaurant with no ventilation that could be considered downright dangerous with Uganda in the middle of an out-of-control Covid wave. ||||Finally, there is no accommodation for drivers as is provided at many lodges and hotels in Uganda. I felt obliged to cover the cost of my driver's room because the hotel was my choice and they did negotiate a lower price for his room which I appreciated. ||||Overall, the Eco Resort was a disappointment but if you aren't in need of internet and have a bit more patience than me it is a very nicely landscaped venue with lots of outdoor seating and staff who...

The ambiance is definitely the best thing about this place. The greenery and the way the buildings here are seamlessly woven into the surrounding vegetation gives off a natural serene vibe, for a lack of better words. It feels like you're one with nature, and this is only improved by the water stream that runs through the resort with a miniature rushing waterfall. The rooms however left some to be desired given their price. At least if they had a better television, faster internet, more modern looking bathroom and a bigger bedroom, then I would feel the price justified. The service was amazing. All the workers were very nice, kind and put the customer first. But there was a slight hiccup concerning booking issues. The food was magnificent and in plenty, at least as far as breakfast is concerned. The resort also has a pool but sadly I didn't have time to check that out. Overall, it's a superb place to spend a night, a week or however long you want. It's well maintained and the only issue is that I think they could've done a little more, especially concerning the living situation,...

It has a lot of pretenses as a convention centre, but being empty when I was there it just looked sad and gloomy. It’s a series of rooms scattered in a nicely kept garden with insufficient signs (I got lost in the maze and it took me a while to find my room again...). The rooms are comfortable, with air conditioning, no safe. The bathroom is large, with hot water, toiletries, hair dryer. There is a fountain that doesn’t spray and a basin of dirty water, it all looks abandoned and uncared for. I had a booking oars but at dinner I was told I could only choose something below 30000 shillings (about 7.5€ or 8$) from the menu or I had to pay extra. In the menu there was nothing below the price apart from snacks. Asking what meant half-board the answer was that it included only the buffer dinner that was not available at the moment! Of course I paid the extra but I find the fact most peculiar. Breakfast is below average. The staff is not...

Excellent ambiance. Having stayed 4 nights, I believe this place has a vast potential if we can get somehow management right. Love the nature with black and white monkey families and other species of monkeys ( sooo cute and cleaver! ) I also enjoy rooming around the compound early mornings and evenings just to relax. Opening window in the bathroom, you can see trees and feel like showering in jungle! All excellent. Swimming pool is great too. Have big open restaurants, if services can be done properly, it will be a place for weekdays. So much potentials! I believe this place can offer so much more. I really hope it will pick up by good management soon as I would love to return as frequent stayer in this beautiful place. Look forward to next stay when in Hoima and adding more stars!

Good Hotel, clean rooms, good n responsive service, located about a 1.5km from Central town buzz meaning it is silent n quiet with good natural compound with birds m monkeys. Secure spacious parking is available. Bar and TV watching area is a little distant from accomodation allowing for quiet sleep. Meeting rooms available with amenities. I was not alerted to gym, swimming pool or other recreation neither did I see any. For the cost of USD$65 per night it is decent accomodation.

Probably the best place in Hoima. Beautiful grounds on both sides of a wooded valley. Rooms very good size and clean. Evening meals in the two restaurants are very good. One of the best things (for me anyway) was the troop of Colobus monkeys that frequent the grounds. There seems to be a persistent issue of brown water from the taps.
