My husband and I arrived at Green Hills Hotel at 4am on the night of 25th March after traveling from Kampala. We appreciated that the Manager, Hope and her team had made arrangements to receive us even at that hour, and we were checked in by Sylvia.||||But that is where the good news ends. ||||The room itself did not feel particularly clean or well aired. One of the taps let out brown water!||We got up to have breakfast at around 9.45am. And went back to the room afterwards to shower and change before checking out. While we were in the process, 2 members of staff, including Sylvia, knocked on our door to tell us that it was checkout time. I told her that we were winding up and would be out soon.||Only to get to the reception at around 11.30am to be told that we would be charged for late checkout by none other than Sylvia! She informed us that regardless of the hour we checked in, the hotel had a strict policy regarding checkout time. She did not have an answer as to why we were not told of this at the point of checking in. Our complaints to Hope did not yield any better results.||We did pay them extra for 'checking out late' when we did not check in early...But it goes without saying that we will not be going back Green Hills and neither would we recommend it to anyone.||||We appreciate that rules and policies are vital as guidelines to operations. But, they should be applied with wisdom...
Read moreI was planning to spend one night at Green Hills last week when nearby Cephas Inn was booked. Upon arrival we were greeted and warmly welcomed. The room that we stayed in our first night was very clean and roomy and considerably less expensive than Cephas. We did not have a mosquito net, but upon request they brought one for us. It was clean and without dust.|The breakfast the next morning was simple but good. The best part were the "Spanish style" eggs which were made to order and very good! |I believe we were the only visitors the first night we stayed at Green Hills which was a bit strange, but a nice change from the noisy alternative up the hill.|One of the best features of this place is that we received wifi in our room!! |As I mentioned, we were only planning to stay one night, but ended up staying the next two nights for the remaining of it time in Kabale also. |One of the managers, William was excellent to work with and very friendly. He said that his job is to fix Green Hills up and so can tell that he is doing what he was hired to do. |I look forward to staying here again next month when I return...
Read moreUnfortunately I cannot give this hotel a good review. Despite John's best efforts, there were many aspects of our stay we weren't happy about. The food was poor (apart from the veggie burger and chips), we were missing a mosquito net, many fixtures were broken or missing and the internet was extremely unreliable. Hot water was limited, the showers were poor and we got stared at and whispered about every time we used the pool.||||The carpets were swept not vacuumed and our son had problems with allergies, which we put down to dust or dust mites. The mozzie nets were dusty and under the bed looked like it had not been cleaned for a long time||||The one saving grace was John who seemed to be working 24 hours a day. He was friendly and helpful and deserved better, but many problems were beyond his control and he was unable to improve the overall experience of our stay.||||I don't like giving bad reviews and hope John finds a better place to work but I cannot give this hotel any better review than is my...
