I wanted to love this place...it was my first time visiting my girlfriend in Uganda. The room was large and clean. The food was good. So, why the ONE star rating? The customer service was unbelievably horrible.||||First of all...I wound up killing a fly or mosquito in my bathroom on a daily basis. For those of you, like myself, concerned with malaria, this isn't amusing. Their response was to give me a can of insect repellent. The problem continued until checkout day. The food routinely took over one hour to prepare, and we were usually the only people being served. The cook moved in slow motion. The orders were often incorrect. They ruined a piece of clothing during dry cleaning. They charged me for Internet usage, but didn't tell me until after the fact, as opposed to making it clear that it wasn't a free service. The last straw was whwn I received a call in the morning, and the front desk informed me that they intended to shut off power to the air conditioner for "maintenance." That would've been acceptable if they had given me prior notice, as opposed to FIFTEEN MINUTES. That was the last straw. I notified the front desk that this was unacceptable and I needed to speak to the owner. ||||Next, I was told that they wpuld shut off the water instead. My response was the same. ||||Within an hour, a representative of the owner spoke with me, and I resolved the MAINTENANCE problems...they would do the work the next day. However, none of the other issues that I brought up changed in any meaningful way.||||For a property with SO much potemtial, I can understand why hardly anyone was there throughout our ELEVEN day stay. If these issues aren't rectified, and drastic personnel changes aren't made, I predict that this hotel will be out of business...
Read moreI stayed at the Premier Boutique Hotel in Kampala for my very first visit to the city (and Uganda as a whole) and I was absolutely blown away. ||||The room is everything you'd expect from a top class establishment (I stayed in a singe bed unit but there are two bedroom units for larger groups). All facilities are top notch, the wi-fi worked great and the bed was comfortable. ||||Outside of the room, the hotel is a lush, zen-like paradise filled with plants and life that provide an air of tranquility. The outdoor area is a great spot to read, walk or simply take in the atmosphere. ||||The highlight of the outdoor area is probably the rooftop which shows off Kampala's sprawling beauty. I was lucky enough to watch a sunrise, and also check out the rooftop at night. ||||As if all of this wasn't great enough, the staff are the people who really make this place a wonderful place to stay. From top to bottom everybody who works there is kind, helpful and extremely interesting. I was charmed by the manager and the director who told me intriguing stories about the city, as well as other everyday staff members whose service came with a smile at all times. ||||For me it's less of a question of "would I come back" and more a case of "when can I come back?!"....
Read moreI organized various rooms at Premiere for a concert that I was planning. From the beginning, it has been easy and delightful to liase with Paul who helps with management there. He was very responsive. The hotel itself is in a beautiful area of Kampala, on a hill away from the hussle and bussle of the city. The garden area is very nice and comfortable for eating. The breakfast was always delicious and the cook was very flexible with different people's eating restrictions (i.e. we had two vegans). All staff were extremely considerate and easy to talk to. I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to...
