Engagi Lodge |Look no further if you are planning to trek to see the gorillas, this is the place to stay. |We stayed in 5 different lodges whilst on Safari and this had the most attentive toned staff of all the lodges. Each cabin had a nice private deck with comfortable seating, The rooms were a great size with well placed mosquito nets that were easy to enter/exit for those nighttime bathroom breaks. Bathroom large and modern with loads of hot water for showering. Each cabin and a staff assigned to it to attend to ANY needs you may have. Micah even cleaned our boots for us after the hike and they looked better than when first out of the box at store! |The staff in the main lodge who service dinner and attended to our needs were exceptionally well trained, polite and interesting people to meet. The food was absolutely delicious, service was fast and all dietary needs could be met with ease. |Online pictures do not portray how beautiful this lodge is. the main lodge room has good internet, nice chimneys with coals on the deck so you can sit and enjoy the damp weather that comes with the rain forest. |The Gorilla Trek centre is just a few minutes by car from here and the hiking sites are close. Bucket list experience had by all! |We also visited Ride 4 a Woman when there. Go see this awesome local NGO’s work to support local women to live safely and earn a living when you are in the area. Worthwhile stop minutes from the lodge.|Please be sure to tip the staff in the main tip box so it is shared with all of the staff in front and back of house. Your tour company can help you with what is an appropriate tip.|We were booked into this lodge as part of our Safari package with Gorilla O’Clock. We would definitely recommend this lodge and this...

Our family recently returned from a life-changing trip to Uganda, and one of the highlights was our stay at Engagi Lodge in Bwindi. Nestled on a hillside with breathtaking views of the rainforest canopy, Engagi Lodge is a peaceful sanctuary where nature, comfort, and community come together in perfect harmony.||From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth by the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. Every team member went above and beyond to make us feel at home, offering personalized care and thoughtful touches throughout our stay.||One of the most unforgettable parts of our experience was meeting Chef Lindewi, a talented culinary artist from South Africa. Her food was absolutely phenomenal—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented every single time. Beyond her remarkable cooking, Lindiwe’s presence was a gift. We had the pleasure of connecting with her personally and exchanging contact information—a reflection of the special bonds this lodge helps create between people.||The lodge itself is stunning—rustic luxury with spacious cottages, comfortable beds, and large porches that overlook the lush Bwindi forest. Watching mist rise over the treetops in the early morning or listening to birdsong as the sun sets is something we will never forget.||Engagi Lodge offers not only a gateway to gorilla trekking, but also a true retreat for the soul. We left feeling nourished, cared for, and deeply grateful.||We highly recommend Engagi Lodge to anyone visiting Bwindi. Whether you’re seeking adventure, rest, or inspiration, this place—and its people—will stay with you long...

📝 Engagi means "gorilla" and this beautiful lodge is the perfect starting point for your gorilla trek in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The staff, from manager Julius to Mikah, was very very polite and discrete, and really made our stay perfect.

🛏️ Our room 2 was spacious, cozy and had a stunning view of the forest right in front of it, which we enjoyed from the sofa on the terrace. In the room we also had running and hot water, which made our stay highly comfortable. No WiFi was available in the room, though.

🍴 Food was excellent and each meal was balanced. Dinners included an entree, a soup, a main course and dessert. At dinner we also had to indicate on a piece of paper what we wished to have for breakfast. They were very flexible in terms of breakfast times and we could have it very early (due to our trek). At check-in we were welcomed with a good, non-alcoholic beverage.

🏠 We loved the main area: it's very big, very cozy and also has a splendid view of the forest. We spent a good amount of time there just relaxing and enjoying the forest sounds. In case of low temperature, they could start a fire to warm us up. Also, there was a library from which we could rent a book and complimentary coffe/tea. WiFi was only available here.

📍 It's located about 1h30 from Kihihi airstrip with most of the road being not paved (about 30km) so it's a little jumpy, but nothing crazy.

☝🏼 From the lodge you can go for a short river walk which lasts about 20-30 minutes. Also, laundry service is available and they also offered to dry-clean our shoes after the gorilla trek, a very...

Where do I even begin? The Engagi Lodge is perfectly situated next to Bwindi Impenatrable Forest. It is the perfect launch pad for gorilla trekking and other activities around the Buhoma Village. This lodge offers a beautiful open air patio, dining area, and bar with an incredible view of the forest. If you're lucky, you may even get a second chance at seeing the gorillas and are guaranteed ample opportunity to view the birds and monkeys. This lodge also seems to be smaller than others we have stayed at, which offers a more intimate experience. In addition to the location, the staff go above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. Tom and Alfred are the best and made us feel like family during our very brief stay at the lodge. The food! Hats off to the chef. Every meal was delicious but we especially enjoyed the soup 😋 We happened to visit during the end of busy season and were so lucky to get this lodge to ourselves for 2 out of the 3 nights we were there. We hope to return again someday and would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation to others. What a wonderful end to our African adventure!

Unfortunately we only stayed here for one night because we would have liked to stay longer. The lodge is located right on the border with Bwindi and offers great views of the rainforest. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The dining area is very nice and the food is really delicious. The small huts are located on a slope, so you always have to climb a few stairs to get to the reception and dining area. There is enough space in the hut and I think it was the only shower on our entire trip that could be kept at a reasonable temperature. We found the small jungle hiking trail particularly beautiful. First down to a small stream that marks the direct border to the national park and must not be crossed. It looks like Jurassic World down there, such big ferns! We return via a small tea plantation. If you stay there overnight, definitely go this way, it takes 30-45 minutes.
