I stayed here for 3 nights during the low season. The lodge during this time of year is very quiet, which made for the most amazing and peaceful idillic views of the waterfalls and the landscape. The lodge sits on the edge of a cliff, directly adjacent to the largest of the 3 Sipi waterfalls. Perhaps more impressive was the view down the slope of Mount Elgon towards the lakes.||||The lodge itself seems to blend right into the cliffside. Well placed trees and other flora add to the scenery and natural feel without blocking the view.||||The staff was very welcoming and friendly, especially Cleo and Milton, and the head guide, Steve Martin was very responsive via email when booking.||||The bandas are large, and have double and a single bed. The mattress was comfortable and they provide large blankets. It gets cold at night! The only downside was that the floor of the banda was covered with a woven mat which tended to be a little dusty (the lodge does provide sandals for walking around the room). Each is outfitted with a shower with hot water, and flush toilet.||There are also some smaller rooms for travelers on a budget, which each contain a bunk bed. The restrooms and showers for these are in adjacent buildings. Those restrooms are outfitted with well maintained pit toilets with no noticeable smell.||||The meals were delicious, a mix of foreign and local cuisines. There is no a la carte menu, but the staff made sure to account for any dietary restrictions.||||The lodge helps you schedule various activities, either through the lodge guide, or with other businesses.||||The best part of the stay was definitely the views, and being so close to the waterfall that you could fall asleep to the white...
Read moreThere's no doubt you will find that this place has breathtaking views across the cliffs and onto the plains below. But, although it pains me to say it, like many places to stay in Uganda, there are definite downsides to a visit here. Despite very welcoming staff and friendly faces, service is a bit hit and miss, with only one offer of help from a member of staff with our suitcases. Normally, this would be fine, but if your banda is at the bottom of the slope, you'll understand. The food was pretty good and a nice amount, with some variety between dishes. The lack of promised sausages in the morning was a bit of a blow, though. In the afternoon, a guide took us to the waterfall and it was a really scenic walk, with excellent views of the falls, cliffs and caves. We even had a 'swim' in the plunge pool, whilst cold water blasted us. The guide was more like a sat nav on silent, in that he showed us the way, but that was all we were getting for our 50k, no local facts and stories that other local guides seem to relish. I think we were most peturbed by the 'rats' ( being kind I could say they were mice) in both the restaurant roof and our Banda roof. The latter managed to chew a hole in a most precious packet of Maltesers belonging to my wife - that's enough to send any chocolate lover over the edge. If you can overlook the so, so service then you may love this place for the great views and walks, as they really...
Read moreLacam Lodge is the place to go if you're looking for a fun, relaxing, adventurous experience at Sipi Falls! My friend and I stayed in the Leopard Lodge which is the bungalow overlooking the falls. It had its own bathroom with the most amazing waterfall shower head. The food and coffee at the Lodge is from Endiro Coffee. It was excellent. The service was amazing. One time they made sure we placed our orders quickly to beat the group of 12 that was coming in soon! Very considerate and kind.||Steve took us on an amazing hike to the 3 falls, then we went abseiling down the largest waterfall. He was very knowledgeable and friendly to everyone we met along the way. He was also a great photographer and made sure to snap pics along the way! He arranged for someone to take us to an overlook to watch the sunset. ||This was such a fun experience. Lacam Lodge is...
