We were here for one night before our trek in Rwenzori. It was a lovely hotel in the 70’s; and it was one of the major establishments in town with a mine nearby. However, it had its time and now is not well managed. We seemed to be the only pair staying in this big hotel. The corridors were cold and dark. The room looked clean but if you looked in details, it’s not (i.e., used contact lens from the previous occupant sticking to the sink) and the bed sheets were a bit damp (probably because of humidity) and not fresh/clean. We did not have hot water in the shower – when we asked the hotel, the lady at the reception told us that there’s only one room in the hotel that had hot water, and in case we needed it, we should ask for the key to that room and only to use its hot shower. My partner did, and he was handed the key to a very big room, but still there was no hot water. The lady said he had to wait, but after an hour of going back and forth, he didn’t want the trouble anymore. ||||There was no other place to eat in the vicinity (or 15 minutes drive to town - well we were not even sure whether there's something to eat in town) – so we ate in the hotel restaurant – we were the only guests and the service and the food were average but nothing more to comment. The breakfast was acceptable for us with fresh fruit and choice of eggs, but the night before sleeping in not clean sheet ruined my mood for the beautiful morning overlooking the mountains. Try not to stay in this hotel. Go somewhere more joyful with...
Read moreThis hotel was built in the 1960s and was once one of the best in the country. Time has definitely passed it by. The property was bought by Reco industries a food processing company. The bathrooms had been retiled and the carpet replaced in my room so it was trying to make improvements but there were so many issues. We were the only guests, the kitchen still takes 2 hours to make dinner, there is no hot water in the shower, the bathtub is very high and could easily be a fall risk climbing in and out, the mosquito net did not fit over the bed. The bed was small I had to lie diagonally to not have my feet over the end. Wifi was very poor. My A/C unit did not work only the fan and it appeared to be at least 20 years old, when you opened the door onto the balcony the air was full of woodsmoke. You can only pay in cash. He gardens once must have been lovely but are overgrown, the bougainvillea hedge along the entrance drive is like 2-3 meters tall and blocks views of the property. there is no art anywhere walls are blank like an insane asylum. Definitely needs more upgrades and a new manager, it could be great but needs so much more work. Pros: the view from the breakfast terrace is nice, the food was good and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The linens...
Read morewe had three nights at this hotel in May 2018. It was the second time we visited Kasese but our first time to stay at this hotel. The rooms were very clean, spacious, comfortable and fully equipped. However, if you don't fit the mosquito net properly, mosquitoes will not spare you.||The meals were the best we have ever had in Kasese. Our breakfast was always with a variety of fresh fruits, boiled eggs, sausages, bacon, omelets, yellow banana, pancakes among others.||The hotel is quiet with enough space in gardens and terraces good enough for holidays.||The service staff was amazing, very attentive and helpful. I can't forget their smiles.||For those who want to rest and relax, this is the best hotel for you.||I would love to visit this...
