Kigambira Safari Lodge — Hotel in Kiruhura

Kigambira had the most “African” safari vibe of the lodges we stayed at. What i mean by that is that the bandas had thatched roofs, canvas walls, four poster beds and the works. It definitely conjured visions of being out in the wild bush. The outdoor balcony on an elevated position offered great views as well. ||The lodge has pristine grounds with manicured lawns, though i think part of that is the resident hippo population that munches up the grass every night (no lounging about outside allowed post dark) and also the warthogs that keep the grounds clean of worms/etc…||Staff in the dining area were all stellar. Special mention of Living, who went above and beyond during our entire time there. ||Food was okay, not brilliant…but nothing to complain about. ||Overall a very nice lodge. I think Mburo could become a star location if the Govt brought some predators in, but that seems unlikely given the cattle farming lobby that surrounds the park and led to the poaching of the existing lions. As a frequent visitor to Uganda, I was excited to try this new lodge with our volunteers from a local NGO. From the moment we arrived, the staff provided superior customer service. The setting is just gorgeous with water views from most of the bandas. The rooms are modern while still feeling like an ecolodge in Uganda. What sets the lodge apart is the exceptional staff. The food has been delicious from breakfast to dinner. We are a group of 10 and they set a table outside for us by the Bonfire. We could not ask for a better place to relax for the weekend before we head back to the NGO to work. We also had a spectacular walking safari and got within feet of dozens of giraffes and learned a lot about the local wildlife and plants. A lovely pool onsite.
