WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! AVOID THIS PLACE! I arrived in the night on 17.8 and the owner Seith gave me one room which was the worst ever, no electricity at all, no hot water, from shower come a black water. Very very basic accommodation and not windows at all! That night was very cold.
Staff is very useless. Seith the owner its absolutely unprofessional und unetical. It seemes that he works just for the money and don't care at all of tourist. He will use every opportunity to get money from you.
I had a very bad experience. He wanted to help me to get transport to the Nkuringo Office Center (where we should start the trek) but he wanted a lot of money of me. I saw another group who were going next day to the same entry of the park to trekk so I say OK I will talk with them to go with them. Then he said you need your own transportation. At the end he told me OK pay me 10$ you will go tomorrow with them. Next day morning he told me "you won't go with them, you needed to take yesterday a decision now you should find a boda boda (moto) and go for yourself" I told him but you told me that I will go today for 10$. He made a lot of problems. At the end he just asked the group if I can join in their transportation. Of course he didnt pay anything. He is so problematic and the only thing he want for you is money.
The night before while we were having dinner I saw how he put the rests of food of one customer back again in the buffet. How can it happen!!!! That was so disgusting! He is so unprofessional and unetical.
Next day after my Gorilla trekking I left immediately the place. I don't recommend this place at all. I travelled for one week in Uganda and have never experienced something like that.
Don't go to this place! There are other very good places for better price. He changed the name of the lodge because the old one has very bad (but real) references. If your want to read the real bad experiences of other customers you can find it in google as " Bwindi Backpackers Lodge"
Next day when I left he begged me not to write a bad reference. I am doing this because this can help...
Read moreWe stayed at this place for one night and we were shocked how the owner manages his place: all through our short stay there was no wifi working. We wanted to pay for the accommodation and meals by card but that was not possible because there was no wifi. The staff tried so much to pay online but it wasn’t working. Even in the morning the staff stayed at our door when I was packing my things making me feel very uncomfortable because I couldn’t even get dressed, they were pressuring us so much. We had cash but that was for gorilla trekking the next day. Can you imagine the boss called us and shouted at us on the phone forcing us to give him the cash even though it was his fault for not providing us with wifi and their machine didn’t work. Even though we promised to pay online as soon as we get connection in town. The boss was very rude and it’s obvious he only thinks about money. The staff was okay but also rude insisting on giving them tips straight away. The food was okay but expensive for the price. There was no hot water and even the soap bottle was there but was empty haha. The road to the place is dangerous and we struggled to get through the gate, they don’t care about you breaking your car there. ❗️There is a sweet mama dog on the property but she is so thin and not well taken care of, she has some wounds on her body – her puppies sleep outside and even in rain they stay under outside stairs with nothing warm for them – that says it all about the place. We were disappointed with their low level of hospitality, they were rude and the facilities don’t cost the money ($56 per night with breakfast). I recommend you to pay a little more and choose another place. This place is far away from gorilla trekking. DO...
Read moreI really loved my stay at Gorilla CloseUp Lodge. From my first conversation with Seith at the office in Kampala I felt extremely taken care of and looked after. Gorilla trekking as a low budget backpacker is tricky to coordinate, but Seith and his team made sure to accommodate me the best that they could. The accommodation itself is in a BEAUTIFUL location with amazing views and has a really nice lodge aesthetic, which fits in perfectly with the area! Thank you to Steven as well who was really friendly company to have driving us to and from trekking :) My bed was extremely comfortable and room had everything you could need and breakfast was really filling before the long day’s hike. Wi-Fi isn’t super speed but for me it wasn’t really important - just an fyi if you are a digital nomad! |Overall I felt like the staff really wanted to do everything to make my experience gorilla trekking as great as it can be and I am very grateful for their...
