Was at lake side escape in Mukono Uganda for a team bonding activity sponsored by the organization I work for (UVRI-IAVI). I am a Ugandan by Nationality but interestingly, I hadn't known of this place. Its so hidden and to tell the truth, really isolated from the main land. Accessibility by road is not that so easy. Advantage is that there are road signs for the Hotel right up from the main highway. So one can not get lost even if you are self driven.||||We were told accessibility is much more easier by Lake from one of the landing sites at Entebbe. This can be arranged. By road, it took us about 2 hours from Kampala keeping in mind that the road is not that good once you leave the main tarmac road. The Hotel I would say is surrounded by the jungle. Just nature around. Lots of trees of different types. With lots of birds. Very excellent for nature walks. They have some bikes on site for those who may be interested in bike riding. Though unfortunately due to our tight schedule for the day, we didn't get the opportunity to go riding.||||The location is just on the lake side (Lake Victoria). Just less than a minute's walk to reach the lake. Totally away from urban life, no passing cars, no nearby shopping malls, no urban noise. Just the sound of the birds and the lake. Its a good place to go relax and enjoy the weekend but to me rather too isolated and quiet. Rooms have no Television to which the management clearly says is intentional. That they need their guests to relax. However u can access one at the restaurant / bar. ||||The accommodation is typical African Hut set up though the inside has modern wash rooms which were okay. Tables, wardrobes, chairs all have a local design. And look good. They have a number of games both indoor and out door. Swimming pool is available though rather small. Huts are well labelled.||||And so are the surrounding tree species with a little information about them. Out door tents can be arranged on request. They had to set up some for us because of our big number (We spent the night there). ||||The food is good. I really enjoyed their meals more especially the break fast.||In summary, its a good place for relaxation though too quiet and isolated for me. Totally away from urban environment. I guess that's why my organization chose it for the team bonding activity. There is nothing like running...

A true home away from home, boasting of luxury en-suite chalets (a house generally made of wood) - each with a lounge area and exquisite view of Lake Victoria.||||Lakeside Escape was created with a homely ambience in mind and is built on a model of traditional Ugandan architectural design. ||||What this means is that, it is made from 90% natural and environmentally friendly material. ||||Under the swaying, whistling palms and Pine trees, one has a unique and calming view of Lake Victoria’s blue waters. ||||Set on spacious, lush, and beautifully landscaped gardens, the Lodge offers a rare luxury and refined comfort to all.||||||Lakeside Escape At A Glance:||||||1. Location: Mukono - a long the shores of Lake Victoria.||||||2. Amenities: ||||√ City transfers from Kampala city to Lakeside by both road and water vessel.||||√ A Full Board rate||||√ Forest/Nature walks ||||√ Camping||||√ Bird watching||||√ Lake Victoria tours||||√ Out door games (Table Tennis, Basketball, Beach volleyball, Football (six a side) and other court sports) ||||√ Board and other indoor games facilities||||√ Private wine and dine||||√ Conference facilities||||√ Garden celebration venues||||√ Tourist library.||||||||What we loved:||||||√ The Afrocentric decor.||||√ The Mahogany bed side tables||||√ The mood lighting at night.||||√ The instant water heaters in the morning||||√ The Space. (You can snick in 2 extra couples and you will all be fine) ||||√ Tourist Library (we have always loved places to stay with a Library)||||√ Out door games (the giant-adult Snakes & Ladders, the traditional African board game - Omweso and Ludo)||||√ Nature Walk - We took a wild, yet secure and guided nature walk, which led us to the shores of Lake Victoria.||||√ Our Room Tour - See...

Really undecided between 4 and 5, it's a 4.5 and I decided to put 5 stars.

PROS: really good location, also the road is not so bad just some marram but really doable.

food is good

rooms are spacious and nice overlooking the lake.

swimming pool and things for kids are extremely good

no problem with power always on

CONS: music in a relaxing place where you go to don't have the kampala noise should be or not there or really relaxing and not loud. We had a full afternoon of music similar to be in a club. It really doesn't make sense for me, since you are there to listen to birds and to lake waves.

bank cards are not accepted, when you have those prices around 800k per a family of 4 per day you must accept them. You can't force people to move with millions of shillings around. Even because as usual in Uganda everybody want cash, but then do not have change... and it...

Lakeside Escape is located in Mukono and can be accessed both by road, distance from Kampala to the hotel is about 58.2km which is about 2hours and 22mins via the Kampala Jinja express road or by boat from Ggaba on the outskirts of Kampala. A very serene and superb place I would recommend for a team building. A modern facility that is closest to nature! The rooms are spacious and clean. They have a twin and single rooms on the premises. There are no televisions in the bedrooms. Those interested in watching tv can find it in the lounge area. If you are not a tv fun, then you can opt to take a book from the library at the lounge as well and go read from the outside while enjoying the beautiful Scenery. I highly recommend this place for those looking for peace and quiet!

Amazing location for both overnight and day visits. They have a wide range of activities for guests, such as boating, cycling, bird watching, darts and free books to name a few. Amazing views of the Lake from any point and a calm, relaxing atmosphere ideal for any group of people. Though driving there may be rigorous, they offer boat rides to and from. Getting in contact with any staff took a while but, in the end it was worth it. The rooms were spacious and range in capacity. They have a swimming pool and play set, making it ideal for family vacations and their prices can be quite reasonable. The staff take care to meet your needs and are prompt and kind.
