Hornbill Bush Lodge — Hotel in Nwoya

A small and very comfortable lodge, just outside the Northern entrance to Murchison Falls National Park. I found my room very comfortable, with many small details thoughtfully well designed - reading light, bathroom fixtures etc. An excellent shower with plenty of pressure and lots of hot water - not something I take for granted, even at high-end lodges!|The owner is a keen birder (as am I) and the grounds have a pleasing bushy feel to them and plenty of shady trees - good for birds as well as pleasing to the eye. The kitchen staff were happy to modify the menu to my request - I enjoyed my meals very much. |Last but not least the rooms and public areas are very nicely decorated with African artwork and some creative use of local materials - adding to the pleasant experience of staying here.|I'm trying to think of any negatives but nothing really...

WE STAYED AT HORNBILL BUSH LODGE ON AUGUST 16 AND 17, 2024. NESTLED IN LUSH GREENERY ON THE FRINGE OF MURCHISON FALLS NP, THE RESORT’S ELEVATED RESTAURANT OFFERS A PANORAMIC VIEW OF THE NILE INCLUDING GREAT SUNSETS. THE COTTAGES WERE GOOD BUT NEED IMPROVEMENT ON FURNISHING AND OVERALL AESTHETICS. THE BATHROOM – ALTHOUGH QUITE SPACIOUS – NEEDS SIMILAR IMPROVEMENTS. THE RESTAURANT WAS SPACIOUS AND THE FOOD WAS GOOD. AND I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO MENTION THE VERY FRIENDLY AND HOSPITABLE STAFF. EUGENE AND EUNICE IN PARTICULAR WERE GREAT AND TRIED THEIR BEST TO ENSURE THAT WE HAD A NICE STAY.||THE LOCATION OF THE RESORT GIVES ONE THE FIRSTHAND FEEL OF BEING IN THE BUSH. You may never find staff as attentive as they are at Hornbill. The food is delicious and cooked to order. The juices are fresh and delicious. ||The room is spacious. There is no air conditioning, just one small fan on the wall. The “windows” are just screens with drapes; waking up to the birds is fantastic. When we stayed, the weather was mild and the room was still pretty dang warm; if heat is not your thing, make other plans. ||While the accommodations are simple, they are well maintained.
