If you want to experience genuine warm hospitality, stay at an extremely convenient location for gorilla tracking and also support the local community, then look no more. And let's not forget the cost also as gorilla tracking is an expensive affair. This is an extremely good value for money option. |I also utilised the service of Emmy Gongo, the manager of this camp. One of the best guides I've come across. |The camp is located a short drive from the nearest sector. You can easily stay overnight , do the tracking in the morning and then catch a return flight from Kigali in the evening. |The staff are all warm, polite and helpful. The rooms, with tented sides have more than adequate facilities, spacious with plenty of hot water and a separate bathroom area. The hot water bottles were very much appreciated. |Food is locally sourced and the meals are delicious.|You can see many birds without moving too far from the camp. And if you are lucky you may come across a gorilla crossing the road ! We heard them but they didn't come out ! |Our thanks go to all the staff and especially to Violetta who always had a smile on her face. Please talk to Emmy in advance about the ways you can support the community, for example bringing small gifts like books and pencils for the local school.|Seeing the three horned chameleon is guaranteed. You'd feel immersed in beauty of pristine nature. And even better, you have wifi ! |Emmy and his team are extending the camp and I wish them all the best. Do give them a chance, I guarantee you won't regret that. This not only comes from me but also from my wife who is a much more demanding...
Read moreI have known Broadbill Forest Camp from its beginnings. I am almost 'family' but can still be objective in my reporting over the years.|As said this was not by any means my first visit and it is pleasing to see the good initial standards being continued. It is not easy to achieve the correct balance between improvements and ongoing repairs but Management seem to be doing this. OK the generator was wiped out during an epic tropical thunderstorm so we had no WiFi one evening. Shock Horror. And the supply of hotwater to my chalet was problematic. But we are at 2500 metres in the Impenetrable Forest not in Kampala.|The essentials are achieved, we got lovely food served by competent and friendly staff for my four night stay and these things are not guaranteed in Entebbe, let alone Kampala. My cabin was the usual one and it was pleasing to see the access path much improved since my last visit. I had a great view over the lower forest from my balcony and watched wildlife from the comfort of my balcony. The Thunder and Lightening show was wonderful to watch.|Inside is the usual comfortable bad, with nets, and both solar and 'mains/generator ' power. Hot water bottles put in place during turndown. To the rear is a shower booth a washbasin and WC AND a full size Bath.|I was well looked after by Manager Edith, and waited on and guided by the ever smiling Violet. I was never pestered to "do" anything but relax and soak it up.|I love this place and cannot wait for...
Read moreStayed here a night before gorilla trekking in Bwindi. The road to get to this lodge can be pretty rough due to the road being very narrow and bumpy.
First impressions were surprisingly good. They offered a very short 15-30 minute tour to look for female and male chameleons around their lodge. The servers and workers were attentive and offered help when they can.
The rooms were clean and the beds had covered warm water pouches in the bed to keep warm. Room did get a little cold at night because rooms were tented and lodge was located in higher elevation. Bathrooms were big with a shower and a tub. Hot water in the showers can take awhile and wi-fi was only available in the dining/common area.
Food was good, but not a big fan of burnt pancakes.
If easily squeaked out by bugs, it might be an issue. We had a praying mantis on our chair in the room. No biggie though since it technically was located in the middle of nowhere in the mountains.
I had a great stay because my tour operator handled the logistics and communicated with them. Hopefully, the great customer service continues.
one criticism is that they tried to grab the chameleons off the trees for photo opportunities and that is not okay because i prefer not to stress out animals for...
