I was surprised at the beauty of Lake Bunyonyi upon my arrival. The lake is famous for being dotted with many tiny islands, and it appears every island houses an individual lodge. ||||After a half an hour boat ride I arrived in the Heritage Lodge Habuharo, and I absolutely loved it. The experience feels incredibly private and secluded, because you basically get the entire island for yourself.||||My room offered a stunning 180-degree view over the lake and featured a beautiful bathroom and impressive beds. The use of many big windows ensures a very immersive feeling into nature.||||Dinner and breakfast were good – although not exceptional, but I was happy with the options.||||I’m sure the lodge provides a lot of different activities in and on the lake, but because I had just finished a gorilla trek earlier that day, I didn’t have the energy to try them out.||||In conclusion, the lodge is beautifully set up and located in the heart of a magical environment. Don’t hesitate to book this accommodation if you’re looking for a place to relax. It's the perfect stop when you’re halfway through your Uganda trip,...
Read moreWe stayed here for 2 nights after a really busy couple of days and it was exactly what we needed. You get a boat ride over to the island, our guide wanted to show us punishment island on the way and our driver was very accommodating. When we got there Stephen the manager and his staff were there to greet us and take our bags. They gave us a welcome tea while they checked us in and brought our bags to our guest house for us too. The guest house was lovely! Firm mattresses if you like that (I do!) mosquito nets provided and a wet room with all your necessities. The rooms are really very private and all have a view of the lake which is magical. Stephen and his staff really looked after us, there was a thunderstorm the second night we stayed and they lit a campfire at the main house for us and also provided hot water bottles for us to take back to our beds. They really thought of everything! There's also a nice walk about the island, it takes about 20 minutes at a leisurely pace and there's a swimming deck too which you're free to use. Couldn't recommend Heritage Lodge more...
Read moreWhat a lovely way to end our Uganda vacation. You start with a peaceful boat ride across lake Bunyonyi, where the scenery was different than anywhere else we had been in Uganda. It feels pretty special as you pull up to the small dock on the island where the lodge is located. We were greeted by a staff members and led to the main lodge to check in. The island is so peaceful. The grounds were well maintained, with beautiful flowers and some local geese, rabbits and geckos to keep you company. Considering the location and the fact the island is self sufficient for power and water the rooms were lovely, the showers were hot and the balcony overlooking the lake felt like something out of a novel.||The staff were so friendly and provided great service. We had two delicious meals, and enjoyed a few moments by the campfire before going to sleep.||On our soothing early morning boat ride back across the lake, our ferryman Steven told us about the historical locations on the lake which were very interesting and...
