What a refresher after long and exhausting trip! Checked in in person without making the reservation a night prior to departure. We've had few weeks of not so comfortable accommodations, and wanted to rest and relax a night before flying home.||Ligena came as shocking surprise. EVERYTHING pictured and described is TRUE. Hotel is located in the mix of older residential and business area, but don't let the ride to it concern you: it might be not a scenic route, but safe and clever. Once you're in, it's a Western style retreat oasis. Free and secure parking, exceptionally clean and well managed grounds and inner property, very hospitable personnel. Front desk lady (fluent at least in three languages: Ukrainian, Russian, and English; on daytime duty of Sunday, September 29th; sorry, didn't catch her name) was a model for the rest of Ukrainian hospitality sector: professional, courteous, polite and accommodating. She deserves the praise (and the raise ;). We were even offered to inspect the room prior to checking in. Wow! Room size, cleanliness and included amenities is just a mind blowing. This is NOT a stripped down budget hotel: bathroom alone is worth 4- to 5-star comparison to traditional US-based facilities.||Hotel bar/mini-restaurant had everything we needed for healthy, quality light dinner. Food and service were very good. There is a full size restaurant just across the driveway on same grounds as well. Hotel's offering a shuttle to the KBP airport nearby (we've had a rental car though).||Our overall impression: would not hesitate to choose the Ligena Hotel well ahead of competition next time around. To Ligena Management: thank you for making our stay pleasant...
Read moreLovely property that felt like its own kind of little quiet oasis near the airport but just couple of blocks from a nearby store and a mile away from downtown Borispyl (if you're a walker like me and enjoy that kind of trek). The hotel has a restaurant (breakfast was decent but did not blow us away) with a few cool outside eating spaces near a little pond with ducks and a small manmade waterfall. We also enjoyed the traditional Ukrainian embellishments worked into the landscaping (like a miniature Cossack on a wagon). The staff was kind and helpful. We called from the airport and they immediately sent someone to pick us up, and when the iron didn't work on our floor, they got permission from the laundry room for us to use theirs. The rooms were not the most modern in the world, but they were clean and quiet. We were also glad that we were able to pay for an extra half day to get early access to our room because we were exhausted from the first leg of our long trip. Bonus that our favorite Borispyl restaurant - Marianna, which is its own little oasis as part of a nice little park - is also only a mile away. We've stayed at a few hotels near the airport in our travels to visit family in Ukraine, but I'm glad we've finally found one that will be our go-to in the future. (P.S. We speak Russian and/or Ukrainian, so I don't know how well/if the staff speaks English, though I did hear a few guys staying there speaking English among...
Read moreI had a very pleasant stay. This hotel has English and Russian/ Ukrainian speaking staff, who are very professional and helpful. The hotel shuttle arrived to the airport 15-20 minutes after I called the hotel ready to be picked up. The shuttle was clearly marked and could accommodate up to 16 people. I was the only passenger then. The driver helped me with my luggage. The registration process at the hotel was quick and easy. You can pay with a card or cash. There is an elevator/ lift. My room was very clean, comfortable, spacious, quiet and had a nice view to the gardens with multiple gazebos (which they use in warmer months for outdoor dining). Shower and bathroom were large and clean. There is a restaurant on premises that looked very inviting and had menun in English and Ukrainian. The restaurant stops accepting orders as of 10 pm. There is breakfast available at extra fee. The return shuttle to the airport is 90 grivnas, it should be scheduled a few hours ahead, takes about 20 minutes. I would love to...
