Very disappointed by the hotel. It presents itself as a 4-star hotel, maybe the best (or even the only one) in town. However, the price:quality ratio is horrible.
Good things: Nice-looking lobby Classy-looking lady that greets you at breakfast
Bad things: 3 elevators with confusing call button system. It seems like one set of buttons is wired to one elevator, and the other set - to the rest. The elevators are looking good, but when you step inside, it's shaking like it's about to fall. There was a physical key to the door, not a card reader. Very fussy and old... There was often no hot water. You had to wait 20 minutes for it to become warm enough to take a quick uncomfortable shower. The mattress in our room was incredibly cheap. When I turned from side to side, it bounced so hard it woke up my wife a few times. The old 4:3 ratio TV with no hope of HDMI input looks really sad in 2019. The air conditioner was functionally non-existent. It kinda worked, was very loud for the first 20 minutes of working time, blew some air, but it was lukewarm on 18 degrees setting. Since I have asthma, I left a note for the cleaning staff asking not to vacuum clean. They listened to it so hard it forbade them to even sweep the floor. The breakfast meal choice is small but nice. It would be great if meals were hot or at least warm though. There was also a time when a waitress came rushing to our table to set cutlery on the seats we did not occupy, like we weren't even there, for next guests, apparently.
Overall, just horrible. For 1500 UAH a night it is unthinkable. Will never return...
Read moreI spent a little more than a month living in the Intourist, and so got to know the hotel and the people who work there a little more closely than if I had only stayed a day or two. It came to feel like home, and I would happily stay there again.||My junior suite overlooked the nearby square and was quite spacious, pleasant and light. The bathroom was large and had both tub and shower. ||Breakfast was varied and excellent, with something for every taste. Seeing it over a month, I realized that the chefs varied the cooked offerings, although some things were standard like juice, cold meats and vegetables, pastries, and porridge.||While I stayed there, I had my laundry done several times, dropping it off in the morning and coming back in the afternoon to find my clean clothes hanging in my room. The price was reasonable and the cleaning was done well.||I also got my hair cut in the beauty salon, and was pleased with the results. There is a spa as well, but I did not have time to visit it as we were so busy.||Zaporizhia has many nice restaurants, many of them a short walk away down the main street, and some far enough away to require a taxi, which the front desk staff will call for you, letting you know how much your trip will cost.||The Ukrainian restaurant in the hotel is well worth visiting. I ate there a number of times and was happy with the food and the pleasant service.||I highly recommend the hotel, which came to feel...
Read moreEveryone at the Intourist made us feel special. We were there for almost 3 weeks and the Intourist never let us down. The reception staff led by Elena and Liz could not have been more helpful. They always followed through on all of our concerns. By the way none of the concerns were hotel related. One short story that conveys just how thoughtful they were: Cell service for Verizon was none existent outside of the wi-fi range of the hotel. There was a heavy snowstorm blowing outside and we were waiting a taxi. One of the front desk staff realized we did not have phone service when the taxi driver called the main line asking for us. She actually ran out into the storm wearing nothing but her uniform and high heel shoes and told us that the taxi was going to be late. These folks at the Intourist really care. If your travels take you to the Zaphorozhia city center then you...
