Simply put the Oberoi Beach Resort Al Zorah is one of the best managed properties I've ever stayed at (out of over 100+ five star properties I've visited). Service exceeded expectations at every turn and staff were responsive, warm, and not bothersome at all which is a fine line that many luxury hospitality brands cross all too frequently.
I almost always find something at a five star resort that seriously doesn't meet my expectations, but there really wasn't a single thing I could find worth complaining about here.
Rooms: 19/20 (highs: huge rooms standard, exceedingly comfortable beds, pillow menu, and all personal care products are either organic or all natural ingredients with no synthetic chemicals and often with ayurvedic formulations; small suggestions the blackout curtains could be a bit more comprehensive and the windows could insulate sound a bit better but overall the room over-delivered)
Location & Setting: 18/20 (highs: you can hear birds chirping almost everywhere on the property which gives it a feel very much not what you'd expect being in the middle of the desert, the beach is clean and inviting with picturesque sunset views, resort grounds are green and lush and perfectly maintained; small item worth noting is the resort is about 4 or 5 kilometers south of what looks like an oil refinery and storage facility which is just part of being in the UAE but still it is in the back of your mind whether the air/water might be polluted due to proximity)
Service & Ambience: 19/20 (highs: staff accommodated almost every request, provided service with a smile, and weren't overbearing at all, property is 7 years old but feels almost brand new with clean modern design, good house/techno music played at just the right volume throughout the key public areas; small piece of feedback, I asked three staff members about open use of spa facilities including steam/sauna and never heard back on that - for a five star resort these days steam/sauna/cold plunge are basically standard open access facilities for guests)
Food & Venues: 18/20 (highs: the Indian cuisine here is the standout as it should be for a brand from the subcontinent, in room dining and breakfast were very good and they delivered breakfast to our room on request which they didn't have to do [special thanks to management for accommodating that request]; Vinesse may not have been a standout in terms of culinary experience, and we didn't eat at Aquario so I can't speak to that venue, but overall we ate very well and were satisfied)
Amenities & Facilities: 18/20 (Highs: the main pool is enormous and perfect for luxuriating with ample privacy, it also looks like they are building an addendum to the property with a second pool with a better view to the ocean; the fitness center is well equipped with both a yoga/movement space as well as standard Matrix machines and freeweights; the only downside of the entire property was wellness/spa amenities which again I didn't get a clear answer from staff if the steam/sauna were available for use if you didn't book a treatment, also a spinning machine and a pull up bar would have completed the fitness center)
Overall resort score: 92/100
For anyone looking for a luxe staycation less than an hour away from the often jarring busyness of Dubai, this is an incredible escape that should be near the top of your list. One of a rare few five star resorts I have stayed at that really...

🍛 Food: There are 2 restaurants to choose from, Aquario and Vinesse. Vinesse is the restaurant you can find the breakfast buffet, which does not have many options, but their a-la-carte options are delicious.🥞 Aquario is a fine dining fish restaurant located on the shore, perfect for a romantic dinner. The food is a little expensive in comparison to the flavours, but the experience will blow you away.🐠
🛏 Room: Our room was a Premier Room with a garden area spacious enough to play all types of activities (we played frisbee as well as badminton). 🏸 The bed was extremely comfortable, enough to just sit and order room service in bed! There were many tv channels too 😋 There was even a surround system that made sure we always set the mood no matter where we wanted to hang out. 🎶 Although we had both options, the bathtub seemed more appealing for a nice warm bubble bath, and the surround system in the room made it possible to enjoy nice jazz music.🛀
🏊♂️ Pool: the pool area was beautiful. The waiters automatically come help you settle down, and offer a nice refreshing popsicle as well as provide you with plenty of water to make sure you don’t get dehydrated. I could spend all my life sitting poolside. 🏖
🧘🏻♀️ Spa: This is where you feel like a king/queen. The spa treatments are so extensive and upscale, that no other spa can ever compare. We had a full body massage that put us in such a trancelike state, I can still feel all the knots in my body untie. 🧖♀️
Start your morning with their daily yoga class before breakfast, hit the pool, and end your day by the beach for a delicious fish dinner.
Hands down a beautiful experience that I would both recommend as...
Read moreEven during the current times of Covid, the Oberoi holds up its 5 star status, and that’s down to the staff and management which are a credit to the Oberoi brand globally.
Hotel rooms are beautiful, spacious, a lot of natural light, classy furnishings and finish throughout with everything you’d expect from Oberoi.
The pool is a great asset, enough space for lengths up and down the pool. Loungers are ample and lifeguards are quick to stamp out people reserving beds all day and not use them which I thought was great. The gym is excellent, very functional, spacious, has quality machinery, which is constantly cleaned down and sanitised, also a beautiful separate yoga and pilates room with lots of natural light again, nice to have a gym which isn’t an after thought and buried into a corner of a hotel.
Now again given we’re in C-19, the staff ensured that every meal was fantastic. I have to give a special mention to Ankita, Nithin, Shashank, Piyush at the dinner service, at breakfast a big thank you to Ramawat and Akum. On top of this we had visits from both Chef Dhaval at dinner and Chef William at breakfast. Service is a cut above the rest, the constant attention to detail and awareness is what made these guys memorable. On a humid evening we would never have to ask for our waters to be topped up and the same for our coffees at breakfast.
Finally I have to say a big thank you to Divya who runs a tight shift on the front desk, she made sure our stay was perfect from start to finish.
Overall this hotel is extremely calm and quaint, it’s an oasis, and could almost be mistaken for being somewhere on a far flung island in the middle of the Maldives.
Thank you for a magnificent stay, especially given the...
