If you’re looking for a peaceful escape from the city buzz without compromising on style, comfort, or service, then Edge by Rotana at DAMAC Hills 2 is a stay you’ll want to repeat. Nestled in a fast-developing, green, and family-focused community, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way—from the hospitality and food to the amenities and surrounding lifestyle attractions.

We were welcomed like family, and the entire stay had that “home-away-from-home” feeling, just elevated with five-star service.

🏨 First Impressions & Check-In:

The moment we arrived, we were impressed by how clean, modern, and bright the hotel looked. The lobby is beautifully designed—sleek yet cozy—and the staff at reception were quick, friendly, and welcoming. They knew we were traveling with children and went the extra mile to ensure we had a smooth check-in. Luggage was handled efficiently, and we were in our room within minutes.

You get the Rotana signature hospitality here—but with a younger, fresher twist.

🛏️ Rooms:

We stayed in a Premium Room with a pool view, and it was absolutely perfect. The room was spacious, quiet, and filled with natural light, with tasteful interiors that felt both modern and calming. The beds were comfortable, with soft linens and a mattress that gave us a solid night’s sleep after busy days exploring.

Everything was thoughtfully designed: there was a cozy corner for coffee, a well-lit workspace, and a sleek bathroom with a walk-in shower and premium toiletries. We appreciated the little touches like prayer mats, slippers, and charging ports near the bed.

Our favorite part? The large windows that overlooked the pool and opened up the entire space with sunlight.

🍽️ Dining:

Urban Bar Deli, the in-house restaurant, was the heart of our stay. The breakfast buffet was filled with freshly made items like croissants, fruits, hot Arabic dishes, and eggs made to order. They catered well to families and kids, with plenty of simple, healthy options.

We had lunch and dinner here too, and were impressed by the flavorful yet balanced menu. Everything was fresh, and the service was excellent—quick, polite, and always served with a smile.

We also had the opportunity to try the poolside snacks, which were perfect for a light bite between swims. Think delicious wraps, fresh juices, and fruit platters.

🏊 Facilities:

The pool area is a true highlight. It’s clean, spacious, and never overcrowded. The kids’ pool is separate and shallow enough for toddlers to enjoy safely, while the main pool is ideal for both casual dips and longer swims. Comfortable loungers, umbrellas, and attentive staff made it a stress-free zone.

There’s also a small fitness center that’s perfect if you’re looking to get in a quick workout during your stay. It’s open 24/7 and stocked with clean towels, water, and a good range of machines.

🧒 Family-Friendly Atmosphere:

Edge by Rotana is tailor-made for families. Everything from the room size to the food choices and the pool setup was child-friendly. Staff were always happy to engage with our little one, and there’s plenty of safe space for children to move around, even in the lobby and outdoor seating areas.

The surrounding DAMAC Hills 2 community also adds a lot of value—there are nearby parks, walking trails, and family attractions within 5-10 minutes of the hotel, like Malibu Beach and the community water play areas.

🌳 Location & Surroundings:

Edge by Rotana is located in the heart of DAMAC Hills 2, a clean and green suburban-style neighborhood about 30 minutes from central Dubai. At first, the location may seem a bit out of the way—but that’s also what makes it peaceful and refreshing.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times but my latest stay was disappointing. It is a decent hotel but the downsides make me unsure I will ever stay here again.

CONS: The hotel ripped me off at the beginning of my stay. I booked for a guest room and the Booking site clearly shows pictures of what the guest room is supposed to look like. I also have stayed in the guest room before so I know even from experience what to expect upon booking again. BE CAREFUL if your room ends in 12. I got room 312 and was shocked to see they gave me a room I did not pay for. The room was right next to the elevator, much smaller in square meters than the guest room I paid for on Booking, and the room was COMPLETELY different. I went downstairs and showed them pictures of the guest room on Booking and told them that this isn't the room I got, and they were thankfully able to change my room to the proper one. I am not sure why they would do that to customers. If they pay for a room, give them the room they want! Or put up this kind of room as an option on Booking with pictures for people to be able to choose if they want it. Don't lie to customers and advertise a room then give them something else entirely.

Housekeeping is not consistent at all. They are supposed to show up once everyday but they show up at different times and sometimes they do not even show up at all. If you call guest services about needing housekeeping they'll say they'll have someone come up but then no one comes up. Sometimes, if you need something specific like towels, they will not have it available to replace.

Guest services are also useless at times. There was a family one night at 2 AM that were loud in the hallway and the kids were running up and down stomping loudly. I called guest services about it and they said they'd send someone to inform the family to be quiet but they never showed up.

I decided to check out two days early as I was disappointed by my stay. A day after checkout, I received Whatsapp messages on my personal number from Mahmoud "double checking" if I checked out. He didn't ask how my stay was or anything. This was unprofessional and intrusive.

PROS: The restaurant experience is like an actual restaurant and the food tastes really good. There is a wide selection of dishes to choose from and there are also alcoholic beverages. The restaurant food is the same kind of food you can get as room service.

The reception staff are friendly and accommodating to any of your needs. They are always willing to help. Sometimes they are not the best at assisting right away but they will get the job done at the end of the day.

The lobby looks fancy, the rooms are furnished nicely, and the shower water runs hot. I have stayed in all room types (guest room, spacious room, suite) and all the rooms are good. Each room also comes with a balcony and the location is peaceful so there is not much noise asides from some cars and hotel guests outside. For the price you are paying, you get a pretty high quality experience compared to a lot of the hotels that are closer to the metropolitan areas of Dubai.

I’m not one to write reviews, but my long-term stay at Edge By Rotana has been so phenomenal that I couldn’t resist sharing my experience. If you’re considering a stay here, especially long-term, I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

The hotel itself is extremely modern, with sleek decor and well-maintained facilities that instantly make you feel at ease. One of the most attractive aspects for long-term guests like myself is the fantastic discounts they offer. These make an extended stay not only affordable but truly enjoyable. Every day, my room was refreshed with new towels and toiletries, which is such a thoughtful touch. Additionally, for long-term guests, they provide full room service every week—cleaning from floor to ceiling. It’s these little things that make all the difference when you’re staying for an extended period.

The hotel also boasts a lovely gym and pool area, which are perfect for relaxation and maintaining a healthy routine during your stay.

Another highlight for me was the updated menu at the restaurant. I must say, the new offerings completely blew my socks off! The variety, flavor, and presentation were top-notch. Dining here has become something I genuinely look forward to.

The staff is what really makes this place shine. Michael and May, who work in the bar/restaurant area, deserve a special shout-out. They are always welcoming, engaging in warm conversations, and ensuring that every meal is a pleasant experience. Their dedication to service is truly commendable.

I also want to acknowledge Carol, the sales coordinator, who is an absolute delight to interact with. Always professional and smiling, she’s keen to help in any way she can. Her warmth and efficiency are much appreciated.

Finally, Mohammed at reception! He has a fantastic sense of humor and makes every guest feel like the most important person in the hotel. No matter what I ask of him, he delivers with a smile and quick turnaround. He really adds a personal touch to the entire experience.

Lastly, I must mention Anam (I hope I’m spelling her name right—if not, I’m sure she’ll have a laugh at my expense, LOL!). She’s always eager for a chat and consistently checks in to ensure that my stay is enjoyable, going out of her way to see if there’s anything she can do to improve it. Her warmth and attentiveness have truly enhanced my experience here.
