Read moreWe have been residing in the United Arab Emirates for over ten years. Consequently, during short breaks that we get then and there, we try experiencing different places to visit. My husband recently discovered Kalba Kingfisher Lodge and was fascinated with the pictures and customer feedbacks and experiences they had while they were staying in the lodge.
Accordingly, during the EID long holidays, we decided to stay at this place just for two days and to flee from city madness. We positively stunned by the experience we had from the arrival to goodbye from the team of Kalba Kingfisher Lodge for a period of three continues days. We were welcomed by an Arabic speaking gentleman who accompanied us to a ferryboat where then a gentleman named Peter took us on a ride and presented us to the reception. In both the encounters, they were very informative.
At the arrival, we decided to upgrade our lodge to a sea view room. The lady Medeha at the reception hosted us without any further delays or added costs.
One of the staff Mohammed accompanied us to the lodge.
We were begun to fall in love with the place. The lodge layout is very planned. The interior very well matched with the concept of a beach house. From rug to the wardrobe, canopy bed, bathroom, shower room, sun bed area and the small pool to the roof highly maintained and perfectly designed.
Price of the breakfast and dinner were included in the cost for two guests. The waitresses and the supervisor in the restaurant were very attentive. We had even the opportunity to interact with the restaurant Chef who came to our table a few events during the dinners. Dinner on the first night was very yummy. We were able to choose at least one from the starter, one from the main course and one from the dessert menu. And the soft drinks were complimentary.
Following the great experience we had with your staff, we decided to extend our stay. The lodge reservation team member Madiha offered the best rate.
We enjoyed the sun, the enchanting view from the lodge facing the sea, turtles and crabs ( crabs going home) and everything about your property.
The hotel team members collectively have provided world-class customer experience during our stay. We appreciate their efforts for training a team in a manner to exceed customer...
Read moreThe hotel seems to be resting on its past laurels, leaving one to wonder how it achieved a 5-star rating. In several areas, it struggles to meet even 3-star standards.
Pre-arrival communication was seamless, with the team being prompt and efficient via WhatsApp. However, the experience began to decline upon arrival. After a short boat ride to the property, we were greeted and escorted to our rooms via buggy.
The rooms were well-maintained and met high-quality standards, with interiors that were both comfortable and tastefully designed. Having a tranquil beach right in front, largely devoid of crowds, was a standout feature. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by an overwhelming mosquito issue that forced us indoors by sunset. The unchecked underbrush surrounding the property likely exacerbates the mosquito problem. While the intent to preserve a natural aesthetic is appreciated, well-manicured landscaping would significantly enhance the guest experience.
The private pools outside the rooms were another area of disappointment. Unheated and in visible need of repairs, they fell short of expectations for a 5-star property. Additionally, the noisy pool pumps had to be turned off upon request, and the stained chairs around the pool detracted further from the experience.
Dinner marked a significant low point. Despite an extensive buffet spread featuring Indian and Arabic dishes, the food lacked freshness, flavor, and quality. When we requested naan or roti to accompany the butter chicken, we were offered frozen supermarket rotis—unacceptable for a 5-star establishment. Even modest eateries manage better.
The communal fire pit was a pleasant post-dinner spot, offering a cozy atmosphere while keeping mosquitoes at bay.
Breakfast continued the disappointing trend. Cheap oils used for frying eggs resulted in an unpleasant taste, prompting us to opt for poached eggs instead. The paratha served with channa dal was also of the frozen variety, further diminishing the meal's appeal.
Overall, the property gives the impression of being in decline to wind up. However, the staff proved to be its saving grace. They were consistently prompt, polite, attentive, and genuinely caring, ensuring guests felt valued despite the evident...
