Moon Retreat by Sharjah Collection — Hotel in Milehah

I originally booked Al Badayer Retreat through Booking.com, but just a few days before my trip—after the payment was automatically deducted—I was informed that the hotel would be closed due to internal operations. They offered to "upgrade" me to their sister property, Moon Retreat, or reschedule my stay without even mentioning a refund option. Since my trip was imminent and I had no time to find another hotel, I reluctantly accepted the upgrade.

They emailed me an activity menu and advised bringing light luggage that could be carried or rolled on the walkway. They also sent a so-called "map," which was nothing more than a directional arrow with no distance indications. Since the Google Maps location was on the main road, we assumed the map was meant to guide us from there to the hotel.

However, when our Uber dropped us off, we ended up dragging our luggage through the desert for an hour because the provided map had no details, and signage along the way was extremely sparse—with only one tiny sign every 1,000 meters. To make matters worse, our local SIM card didn’t allow us to make calls, and we don’t use WhatsApp (which was their only communication method). As a result, we couldn’t contact anyone for assistance.

When we finally arrived, the staff first claimed we were the first guests to ever walk in, then denied knowledge of the map and instructions we had received via email. On top of that, they had no record of my pre-ordered BBQ ingredients and had made no preparations. The activity menu they had sent earlier turned out to be from a third-party company. They merely facilitated the bookings without informing us that additional transportation fees would apply.

Communication was a disaster—they insisted on using WhatsApp for everything, and since we don’t use it, we had to add them on WeChat instead. When we requested some water, we messaged them for two hours with...

It was an awesome experience at Moon Retreat.

1. Location is close to a lot of outdoor activities including offroad drive, hiking, etc.
2. We had a beautiful dome tent with private pool and it comes with awesome views of the mountain and desert. Room was very clean and bed was very comfortable, pool was temperature controlled so we could enjoy the pool comfortably during day and night. We love the bon fire movie night in the mountains with hot karak tea! There is no restaurant there, so we ordered the BBQ seafood package and did our own BBQ by the pool, it was quite a nice experience. We also had to cook part of the breakfast as well - fried eggs, ham and sausage. I didn't find it too much of a hassle as we primarily did the cooking part only, and the staff setup all the proper equipments for us, including starting the fire. I must say the setup was actually quite fast and ready to cook in 10 to 15mins.
3. Staff service was very prompt and communication was super convenient through whatsapp! I really appreciate the direct whatsapp service as it makes it so easy to get answers from the team even before our stay. I did have quite a few questions and special requests prior to our stay, and all were answered promptly.
4. The entire team were all very helpful. Our vehicle battery went dead during our stay and the did their best to help us to troubleshoot, recharge the battery and jumpstart our car. In the end we had to go to a workshop and one of the staff led us to one, spoke to the workshop guys and negotiated for a better price for us. He also came back to check on us at the workshop after running other errands.

We were two couples, each staying in separate pods, both equipped with private pools, and the entire stay exceeded our expectations.||The accommodation was 5-star glamping at its best. The pods were exceptionally clean, and the private pool was an added luxury that made the stay even more special. The staff were incredibly attentive and made sure everything was set up for us perfectly, particularly during our BBQ evening. We brought our own food for the BBQ, and the team prepared the area for us and ensured we had everything we needed. After cooking, they kindly took care of the cleanup once we had moved on to the communal fire pit area.||The evening was magical—after enjoying hot chocolate by the fire, we had the chance to stargaze through the telescope. Looking at the stars and planets was an awe-inspiring moment, adding to the tranquility of the night. The quiet surroundings ensured a restful sleep, and we woke up feeling rejuvenated.||Breakfast was delivered to our pod at 8 am, and a staff member even lit the BBQ for us. We cooked the food and spent a leisurely morning relaxing by the pool, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere.||This retreat offered a truly unique experience, blending nature with comfort and luxury.
