Idyllic Cottages — Hotel in Babergh

Was not at all happy with the service I received and very disappointed. Booked a holiday, got there and house wasn't cleaned / front door open. Couldn't get hold of owners. Took half hour to get hold of company. Asked to be booked in somewhere else and told this could not be provided.The snug room which was advertised in the booking was out of use, now a music room. The owners could have phoned or text to explain that there was a problem, not good enough letting us drive a hour and half to a house where we had to turn around and go home. It took over two weeks to get money back. The only compensation offered was when we asked for something back to cover petrol costs etc. We were so upset and completely disappointed. The whole experience was very stressful. Do not recommend at all! I'm happy to explain. We found the property with door open and someone had been cleaning then lift. The owners house was dark and locked up . When we got hold of Charlie at this point I did not know what had happened. He was not able to come out as he was unavailable. We asked if we got half are money back and a cleaner come the next day we would stay which Charlie agreed on. Then I went up the steps to find snug room was now a music room not what was advertised. So I phoned Charlie and asked about the snug room which he explained was out of use and should be locked. At this point I asked for a full refund. We went home . The next day I spoke again with Charlie about refund and I pointed out it wasn't on about the snug room not being in use when it clearly was in the advert of the stay. This is when Charlie replied and said Iv spoken with owners they said they could have got snug room ready if I asked them. We had to ask about the 50 per cent t was not offered. It was agreed...

We frequently visit the same area to see family and we had a lovely stay with Idyllic cottages in March. We had booked (and paid a sizeable deposit for) a different cottage with them for September and as we loved the March space so much for the babies we asked to change our next visit back to there too. Idyllic cottages advised us to communicate by email and not via Air BnB. They confirmed dates and the price and we replied with acceptance. Sorted! Months later we notice the original booking still on our Air BnB account so we got in touch to query.

They advise the booking we thought we had was not secured and was no longer available on our travel dates. They said we should have cancelled and rebooked on Air BnB. There was no accountability at all for asking us to engage seperately and for them not advising if we had needed to take further action beyond the email agreement we’d reached. We feel incredibly disappointed by the situation but more so by the response from the company. We just cannot believe the lack of care...

Myself and a group of friends stayed at The Presbytery. Well equipped large property with everything we needed including a much appreciated welcome basket full of goodies. Set in stunning surroundings in the heart of Suffolk this really was a perfect place to relax and unwind. All the rooms are of good size and beds are super comfy. We had oil central heating which kept the house lovely and warm but as we stayed in late November we still took advantage of having a roaring log fire in the evenings which was quite a novelty for some of my friends who’d never experienced the joy of an open fire.
