Premier Inn (the company not the staff) have treat us with absolutely and utter contempt placing our health at risk and putting profit above all by placing us in a room which had recently flooded. On checking in to the hotel the member of staff at reception reported to us that there had previously been a problem with our room (room 31) in that the room had previously been flooded and it still smelt following the flood but assured us the room was clean and safe to inhabit. On entering the room the smell was worse than I expected and was overpowering, it was uncomfortable to stay in the room due to the smell, however after complaining to the reception and making the staff member aware of my wifes asthma which was aggravated by the conditions in the room, we were told there were no other rooms available and thus we had no choice but to stick it out as we had no other options available, nor could we receive a refund. Through the night the smell was so acrid I could actually feel it at the back of my throat and after a terrible night of broken sleep I arose the next day with a headache (I attribute this to the overpowering and acrid smell). Our stay at this hotel in Room 31 was absolutely unacceptable, to put a family in a room with a known problem (for a full fee I might add) just shows absolute and utter contempt for the customer and falls way below the standards I accept from the company. Its utterly disgusting that Premier Inn are willing to risk the health of customers by still using the room in its current state all in the name of profit. I would seriously ask whether the Director or higher level management would stay in this room with thier families. I very...
Read moreWe use this hotel as a stop over for an annual convention that we usually have a stall at (Chillcon in Ecclesfield, Sheffield). It's conveniently located about 10 minutes away, easy to get to, ample parking and clean, comfortable and quiet, no frills rooms. There's a desk in the room to get a bit of work done and the free WiFi is good enough for web browsing and emails etc. TV has a selection of Freeview channels to watch but nothing mind blowing. Faster WiFi is available if you want to stream for £5 a day, which isn't terrible if you're going to spend a few hours in watching something.
The on site restaurant is a nice pub with a friendly atmosphere and a good selection of food. Since our previous stay my wife has had to commit to a gluten free diet which makes eating out quite difficult so we were pleased to see the restaurant had a gluten free menu to make it easy to find something suitable - it wasn't huge but certainly more than a lot of places do. Also nice to see actual gluten free substitutes on the menu instead of the usual "we just don't put the bread on" type compromises.
The meal voucher is also well worth booking as you get your 2 course evening meal plus a drink and a full English breakfast in the morning at a significant discount.
Overall, we always look forward to our stay here as it's the perfect place to prepare the night before a...
Read moreWe're Premier Inn regulars and booked here because it was local to Stocksbridge and we were visiting to do some ancestry research in the area and have a look around.
Premier Inn have got their accommodation, cleaning routines and reception off to a fine art and everything about the room and the hotel side was absolutely fine. The two guys on reception did a great job while being friendly and pleasant, yet professional.
The Wentworth dining pub, I warmed to less. It wasn't enough to give this stay less than 5 stars overall but while most of the staff were good, it felt a bit 'Wetherspoons' when ordering food at the bar and a couple of the young staff on duty in the evening were a bit abrupt. It just felt different to some of the other Premier Inns we'd stayed at earlier in the year at Richmond, Catterick and Glasgow. Service at breakfast was generally much better but then you order at table. This is more emphasis than anything, detail of service rather than a big issue.
The food was what you'd expect from a dining pub and perfectly fine for the money. The range of drinks was excellent. The meal deals work well, if you are staying.
Plenty of car parking and everything is readily accessible. Worth using if you are visiting the area and still a 5 star stay at a good price. We'd stay again, so not a...
