This is our second time here, our first was a family visit during the Christmas period. We stayed in one of the treehouses back then which had an en suite bathroom and kitchen, so we utilised the space and cooked our Christmas dinner in the kitchen, having come prepared. This time around we visited in summer during the heatwave, and we were really excited to see how the space had been transformed and expanded to include a pool and alternative accommodation styles. We didn’t have en suite this time as we stayed in a yurt, but the shared bathrooms were really impressive anyway - there was always one available whenever we needed to use one and they were super clean, the water was hot and pressure fine too. I was even pleasantly surprised to find that one of the bathrooms had a tub! We also utilised the communal barbecues alongside some other groups, and we used the basic outdoor kitchen to cook our eggs in the morning as we had come prepared this time around too. We also used the pool on our second day and on our day of departure which is what really made our stay - the pool is beautifully designed to make you feel as though you’re somewhere more holiday-esque in Europe. We really had a wonderful time, the only things that brought the quality of our trip down were that the food choices didn’t suit our needs (we were under the impression that there would be wholesome, plant-based, organic, clean food on offer but it was really basic, pub/cafe style basic food, and). The only pub offering a variety of vegan and veggie options had run out of all their vegan and veggie options by Sunday lunchtime already. The kitchen we were using seemed to share equipment with the actual cafe on site too - so there were often items we had to dig around for like chopping boards and knives, utensils, etc - and by lunchtime on our second day, there was a swarm of wasps due to the bin bags that had been left out so it was quite difficult to use the outdoor kitchen. It was a little overcrowded in the pool when the yoga retreats finished for the day, and just that ofcourse being in a wild space (perhaps it was more the location of our particular yurt aswell - Thatcher’s), that there was an incredibly loud symphony of birds and other animals every morning from around 4-6am - but perhaps others wouldn’t mind this so much given the experience of being in a yurt and outdoors. Despite those minor inconveniences, we loved our stay and are already planning a third visit! Thank you team WL, see you soon! :-)

My mum and I both lead busy lives, and this stay gave us exactly what we needed — time to relax, reconnect, and just be together. It was the perfect space to slow down, breathe, and feel grounded again. It’s hard to find a place that truly welcomes dogs, so that was an instant bonus! We loved the free paddle boarding and the boats — our dog even joined us for a sunset ride! Evenings by the fire pit were such a special touch, and the library felt like something straight out of Beauty and the Beast. Dinner was delicious, made with vegetables grown right there on-site, and the team went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We’ve already booked to come back and plan to make this a regular escape every few months to reset and recharge.

My wife and i have just arrived home from a 2 night stay at West Lexham . We came , to experience something different for my wife's birthday. and West Lexham didn't disappoint. |We arrived at about 2.30 pm , so a little early for our published 4pm check in time. We figured we would just walk around the area until we could access our tree house. But this wasn't an issue, there was a lovely young lady on the front desk that took our name and promptly walked us round the area, showing us points of interest and taking us to "Tinker" , out tree house home for the weekend. Tinker was everything my wife had hoped it would be, and exactly as advertised, it was a tree house, in a tree , in the woods, and as you would expect , there was spiders webs on the windows outside and bird poo on the balcony , its in the woods, surrounded by nature and all its glory, Inside , was wonderful, tidy, clean and well equipped, with a wood burner, a kettle , tea and coffee, a well made bed, bedside tables, in fact everything you'd expect , to be comfortable staying in for a few nights. |A short walk takes you to the shower block, 5 or 6 individual rooms , with a shower , sink and toilet . These rooms were spotlessly clean, a plentiful pile of toilet roll , and (at least the one i went in) with a perfectly working shower with easy to use temperate regulation, that stayed at a constant temperate , so no fluctuating hot to cold. |another very short walk sees you at the cafe/restaurant . Again a lovely clean area. I cant comment on the food here, as we were out all day and ate out before coming back. We did have the (included) breakfast though and that was very enjoyable , although i only had bacon sandwich and a cup of tea. A mention must be made though of the 2 young female members of staff that were working this weekend. those 2 young ladies are a credit to the business, polite, helpful and attentive.|We had a walk around the grounds on the Friday evening , all very well kept, a lot of plants that have clearly been planted to help and attract bees which is lovely to see.|We didnt go in the pool , but it looked clean and some people did use it while we were there and seemed to enjoy it.|We spent the daytime travelling and exploring the Norfolk coastal areas and this was a perfect, quirky base .|So in summary , a lovely clean, well run place that had some wonderful staff and everything we needed for a 2 night stay with a difference .|The lake was lovely and we had a go in one of the boats , but the little rings that hold the oars in place are broken and we are too weak to row without them , but am sure other people would manage , but we had a laugh for half an hour boing round in a circle.|One last thing to mention , which is no way a reflection of the accommodation or area, but we noticed some dog poo on some of the grassy areas, and there was a couple of dogs off leads there during our stay. But please , be responsible dog owners and pick up after your dog.
