Stayed in the cosy hut. A last minute booking. |How lovely to receive a call back from my online enquiry. A lovely lady confirmed availability and cost. |We tried to gather more information from the website about the accommodation but couldn't seem to find much on the hut just the farm shop and the gypsy caravan |Arrived early and was greeted by a lovely lady all smiles and welcome. She explained the site was run by her daughter and that she was standing in. | Showed us the loos and showers and wash up station before sending us to the hut at the bottom of the paddock. The hut looks a bit tired from the outside if I'm honest but inside warm ,clean cosy and they'd made a second bed up for us |Provided a kettle ,cups , plates, glasses, cutlery and a washing up bowl||The gas bbq was an added benefit, we enjoyed the home reared pork apple burgers on the bbq that night. The picnic table/ bench wasn't comfy perhaps something a little more grown up would've been nicer. |Beds a bit squishy for my liking but the sheets all clean and lots of pillows and spare blankets. ||My only other wish would've been information on the welcome email to say what we needed to bring (towels tea towels and hangers). ||The farm shop was well stocked with local produce and we enjoyed a lovely hot cuppa there after a long bike ride||A few bits in the hut weren't perfect but overall a lovely place and I...
Read moreWe stayed a couple of nights at Eves Hill Farm, I initially thought we'd come to the wrong place as there were only two other campers there and this was Easter! It is a 'no children' site which will please many and is on a working Hereford beef farm, although they do have some adorable pigs and piglets. We were on an electric hook up pitch, 4 electric, 5 or 6 non-electric, with a recently installed 'bathroom' block of 4 self-contained units, each with a shower, loo and hand basin. As there were so few campers on site, we had our own bathroom unit assigned to us, which was a real treat! We met the owners early on and they are very friendly, not even requiring payment until we left, very refreshing! There are quite a few walks in the area, one of which was across the fields to an unusual church, St Michael the Archangel at Booton, a must see if you're in the area. There is also a glamping hut on site but it was unoccupied when we were there. They accept cash, card payment and bank transfer. We will definitely...
Read moreLooking for locally produced meat and produce because we're committed to supporting local producers, we found Eve's Hill Farm shop and went around. We started talking about where all the meat and produce come from, and Kathryn, mentioned they're fully regenerative, (that's a phenomenal commitment.) and arranged for her husband Jeremy to take us around the farm. It was all about the building the health of the soil, mob grazing, happy looking pigs doing their thing in the tree lines between the fields, a variety of crops, with newly planted in field willow (I think) corridors to encourage natural wildlife. It's all designed to build soil health, sustainability and diversity of income streams to make farming work for them as third generation farmers. The produce was fantastic, liver, beef sausages, meat chunks delicious. Great experience. Produce was so good, had to go and load up a second time, before we moved on. Highly...
