I rarely award 5 stars, when I do, it is because I took factors like these into account before reaching my conclusion: value for money convenience service quality customer service wellbeing and satisfaction
I am pleased to confirm that this hotel has delivered an excellent experience on every category.
I paid £45 for an overnight stay. I phoned the reception to enquire as to the availability first. When I did this, it was late at night. The receptionist was pleasant and helpful, I asked her if she had a room in the quietest spot possible, with no noise, and if the room would get dark so I could sleep well. She said she could put me in such a room, and upon arrival at the hotel she knew who I was and arranged a great room for me.
When I entered, I was pleased with the standard of cleaning. Good and soft illumination, a television, and a wonderfully hot shower were highlights for a budget stay that felt a bit more than "budget". Think like paying Ryanair price but getting British Airways, but in this case it's a hotel room not a flight.
No bells and whistles, just a clean and comfortable bed with two pillows, comfortable sheets, and heating/cooling. Whilst I didn't use the air conditioner, it's there for the summer, and yes, it is important and required in the UK, we do get hot as well as cold.
In terms of convenience, you're next to the A46, without much ado, you're joining the road within moments of leaving the parking lot, even with the morning rush I found myself joining main traffic easily and was on my way to work. You can either reach places like Nottingham or Lincoln from the A46, or take the M1 after a short drive. So location-wise this place is great. It's also next to a Shell station for refueling and convenience purchases like snacks.
I did not get the breakfast package, which would've been approximately £9 with time starting at 6am, and I believing going up to 11am, but could be 10. Please double check.
So, how was my stay! Just one night, in a quiet, dark, clean room sleeping on a comfortable bed and the room was warm. In the morning, a lovely wash using a powerful and hot shower, just one Apple-scented soap which was invigorating and could be used from head to toe.
The mirror had built in lights and defogging technology so even after the suite became steamy, I could shave within seconds.
I needed to spent a night away from home, to clear my mind of stress. This was the reason for my visit as I live in Leicester. It is not a spa, it is not fancy, but all I wanted was a clean, comfortable, safe and quiet space for myself to clear my head. I got exactly that! I left energized, and parking was included free of charge with me just having to type my car reg on a tablet by the reception.
I will wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone needing a good place to stay without being ripped off, depending on price of course. For £45 it really couldn't have been better anywhere!
If the staff monitors feedback here then I want to say Thank You to the female receptionist in the evening (with a Polish accent) for hearing my needs over the phone, holding a room for me, and then putting me in one that met all my needs...
Read moreAn Ibis I won't return to when better options exist. When my partner and I were initially looking at hotels so we could attend a local convention, we chose Ibis because I've always thoroughly enjoyed their breakfasts. We booked direct, paid the extra for breakfast etc. But wasn't told that there wasn't going to be any food on site until the day we checked in.
The room itself was fine. Comfortable bed and a hot shower with good water pressure is something I've come to expect from every Ibis I've stayed at. However I did not care for the bathroom absolutely wreaking of cigarette ash! We had to go down to complain due to how bad it was. Combine that with the burn marks on the floor and I suspect that smoking in the rooms is a prevalent issue.
We would have liked tea making facilities in the room, but I suppose that is a compromise due to this being the Budget line of hotels.
We were worried that we would suffer a lot of noise on our second night due to a coach of boisterous students arriving, however the soundproofing appeared to be very good. (Either that or the students settled quickly)
The staff were polite and helpful to the best of their ability; trying to find a solution to our room's odour as they couldn't facilitate a...
