Booked for my wife to stay here for a night away from the kids with a meal and a couple of spa treatments. She had a wonderful time and came home with nothing negative to say. She took a friend and try were both blown away, particularly by the quality of the food. Not only was it incredible quality (their compliments to the chef!) but they both said the food was served in actual portion sizes that filled you up. Room was larger than expected, clean and tidy. The staff were very helpful whilst I was booking and made various amendments without making me feel like I was putting them out (this happens far more often than you'd expect!) and were very attentive during the stay. The Happy Birthday chocolates served after dinner were a lovely touch. Grounds are stunning, only the cold weather and snow stopped my wife exploring more. Both said their spa treatments were very enjoyable and both want to come back soon! All in all, I can't recommend enough, Thank you!!

Charming Period property with unspoilt Jacobean/Tudor features. Lovely restaurant with gazebo clean white linen and comprehensive menu for breakfast and dinner. The lounge, bar and hall are very intimate with daily papers and roaring log fires. Modern wing with up to date spacious rooms large bathrooms comfortable super king beds and flat screen TV. Spa free to guests with steam room Friendly attentive staff. There are some great deals available in January/February. Stow in the Wold and other attractive Cotswold towns close by so this is an ideal location to explore this beautiful area. The bathroom in my room unfortunately had mould around the shower enclosure but this is a minor criticism. Navigating out of the hotel at night by car is difficult as the exit road is not signed and looks off-road. The wifi on the lower ground floor was non existent and intermittent in the public rooms and needs to be improved but nevertheless a delightful period hotel.

Lovely surroundings and buildings, the Orangery, where we stayed was nice and clean, comfortable and lovely views out to the grounds, with the rabbits and squirrels abound. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and very helpful. Some of the outside furniture and fittings could do with a tidying up and upgrade but in general, ok. To be expected at the end of a busy summer season. If you stay in the outer buildings, it is advisable to have a brolly and/ or coat for the inclement weather, otherwise you could get a bit wet when you need to go to the main building for food and drink but don't let this put you off. The road that runs by the grounds, is close to the Orangery, so you can get some road noise but again, not really an issue unless you are a light sleeper or noise sensitive. Hopefully, we will return one day.

maybe this was just me but i really didn't enjoy it here, the place had no atmosphere... such a weird thing to describe , no soft music in the background, just eating dinner in a small cramped room listening to people chomp down their food was strangely uncomfortable for me. The area where situated is gorgeous , the building is beautiful , the room was large and very comfy but the heating in this place is nuts, no control for your own room so basically you cook at nite, this for me was a real problem as i like a slightly cooler room, i was literally awake all night. The room was kinda tatty around the window frames , paint peeling, etc.... I'm aware I'm being super harsh but this wasn't a 50 quid a night BnB... so i have to judge accordingly.

I paid well over 220quid for 1 night and i left disappointed and just feeling it wasn't special enough for the planned engagement for my partner, had i have been able to change it i REALLy wouldnt have choose this place...

i emailed a detailed message and never heard anything back, infact that was pretty much the customer service i received from start to finish , lack of call backs, lack of willing to help me make to engagement special for my partner ( not even a complimentary wine or something , room upgrade etc)

The nail in the coffin for me was a dinner, where me and my partner went ALL out, dressed to impress and we are sat in dinner with people in their P Js with no shoes or socks on, it seemed their was no dress code even the most basic of places wouldn't allow such things..

overall very disappointed and wouldn't go back. NOT worth the money . The 95% foreign staff work force barely muster a word to talk to you although service is just fine, but overall that feeling of no ambience / atmosphere was overwhelming. I went on valentines and their was not even a single piece of decoration to kinda get the mood going, i know we have to be respectful to such an old building , but..... Something???

Breakfast was delicious really nice, loved that, dinner was average and afternoon was was the most over priced food I've ever paid for... lol, it was laughable.

building need works...

My husband booked Wyck Hill House a few months ago in anticipation for a romantic weekend away for our anniversary, but unfortunately ‘romantic getaway’ was the last thing it was.

Despite notifying the hotel in advance of our anniversary plans, we were quite disappointed to find out the hotel had done nothing to make our room/weekend that little bit more special. I’ve read of other couples receiving a room upgrade, but we didn’t even get a bottle of wine - it kind of felt totally un-acknowledged... but this was the least of our worries.

When we arrived at our room in The Orangery, a building separate from the main house, we were hit with the strong smell of damp & mould. The carpet was sodden and the bathroom full of black mould. When you book a getaway, you should feel relaxed & comfortable away from home - but we spent the entire time wishing we were back in our own bed.

The entire place seems like it could use some investment as it’s very rundown. We told reception who didn’t really seem bothered (I got the feeling that this is a regular occurrence) & agreed to move us... but only to the room next door which was exactly the same.

My husband complained, expecting to be offered an upgrade or some form of compensation but we were told ‘sorry were fully booked’. I thought maybe they might offer something to apologise but this didn’t come.

A trip down to the ‘spa’ (a very tired looking sauna & steam room) didn’t offer anymore reassurance. There was lots of mould & it was far from the luxurious break we had bought into after looking at their website. Many gyms offer a higher level of luxury and cleanliness.

At £100 a night, this place was extremely overpriced for the level of service and hospitality we received. I can’t comment on the main house, but if you’re offered a room in The Orangery, avoid at all costs - this hotel is definitely not the 4-star opulent stay it’s...

We stayed both at the orangery and the main house, with breakfast, dinner and a trip to the spa. Like many reviews have reported before, the dinner experience is pretty much as good as it gets. Very inventive menu, served in a wonderful setting. The bred was a bit meh but apart from that our table for 3 was impressed, even considering the price. The rooms in the orangery were OK, very clean but nothing to write home about, esp. since they are quite close to a busy road (which quiets down at night). The rooms in the main house were the class above but showing signs of tight maintenance budget. For the price of the rooms, whether in the orangery or the main house, there is an expectation that the rooms, furniture, etc. need to be in perfect state of repair, even in the Cotswold! Now, to make up for it, it has to be said, the service is top-notch. The staff is friendly and accommodating, absolutely faultless on this front. Also the common spaces are beautiful – library, terrace, etc. The breakfast is rather unremarkable - good quality products, and quantity, but mediocre presentation, average choice of fruits and little choices for vegetarian or special diets (you can ask for GF bred and non-dairy milk but I consider these should be available on the buffet). The spa is a nice way to kill a few hours on rainy days. It's well-equipped, with a sauna, a steaming room and more. If only the shower in the men's changing room wasn’t stuck on boiling temperature… it may have been a temporary issue. The wifi was at best poor, most of the time unavailable - both in the orangerie and the main house. Small thing, but not really acceptable these days for this category of accomodation. All-in-all a relatively pleasant stay, albeit a tad on the overpriced side if you are staying...
