The approach road (farm track) is in poor condition. Full of holes that could easily be improved, using the available gravel pile, halfway along. Lovely views. Has the potential to be a 1st class site: loads of space Significant slope, but possible to find a satisfactory pitch. It is the toilet block that really disappoints. An inadequate number of toilets (4) and showers (2) for the size of site. Heated Water is unsatisfactory. Initially, plenty of toilet rolls in place...but these nearly ran out before being topped up on Sunday morning. There were extras in a cupboard, but who was to know? One shower was full of mud and in an appalling state for more than 24 hours - despite staff present on site. A lack of care, considering the cost. The washing up sink is very exposed in the field and the drain was blocked with rice & other fatty deposits. It was half full of a watery & horrid unsavoury mess. The drainage is inadequate & foul water drains into the grass. Nasty! Staff were curt on arrival and lacking in meet & greet skills..."have you paid" being the first comment. Summary: beautiful site. An excellent pub close by. Lovely views. Windy location, but that's fair enough! Facilities poor for size of site and lack of maintenance & care for the massive potential occupancy. Bank Holiday weekend saw massive increase in volume on site. With tweaking and attention...could be brilliant. Care a little more & try harder, please.

Really lovely stay, site owner was very friendly. Great views and a nice walk down to the Monsal Trail directly from the camp. Basic facilities but all working and the showers were hot. Didn’t really get much noise from the nearby quarry and it doesn’t start work until 9am anyway so really not a bother. Found other users of the site to be very disrespectful and left mess and rubbish everywhere, including smashing up a brand new gazebo and firepit because they couldn’t be bothered to take it home. Waited until they’d left and went and cleaned it all up along with some litter and tent parts that had been thrown in the long grass by other campers, shocking behaviour and it’s not even peak season yet. Will definitely come again but the owner needs to be more aware of how people are treating such a beautiful site.

The toilets were cleaned twice a day and replenished with soap. Toilet roll and hand towels. Staff onsite were really helpful and kind. The grass was kept short for the campers. Fresh spa water tap for drinking water and a seperate kitchen sink with water supply. Lovely tucked away location 45 mins drive from Sheffield centre. Highly recommended. You can also rent the farmhouse at the bottom of the slope! Use the qr code for full videos and travel info.

We had a lovely time here. The views around the campsite were beautiful and the site was very peaceful and secluded. The village nearby (Chelmerton) was a pleasant walk and not too far, with a lovely pub there. There was also a bus stop about 10 minutes away which you could take into Buxton (although the bus did only run about every hour), and everyone we bumped in to at the campsite was very friendly.

The site was sloped down a bit, although this did not really cause any problems. It was however, very windy, which of course is not the fault of the site although just something to keep in mind - might be a good idea to bring a windbreak!

The toilet and shower blocks were the main downfall. Overall they were fine and perfectly usuable. Although it took a while to warm up the water did get to a good temperature. However, while on our first day we saw an attendant cleaning the shower and toilets, we did not see them again at all for the duration of our trip and the state of the blocks only continued to worsen. The door to the toilet is constantly wedged open so there were quite a few bugs in there. There was no light in the shower block (and there was only 1 shower block working), and the floor was constantly wet and grassy/muddy). We attempted to use the washing up sink (which is a sink and drying up area randomly placed at the side of the field), but it was clogged the entire duration of our stay, so we stuck to mostly using antibacterial wipes. Because of this blocked sink (or just down to laziness I am not quite sure), we noticed other campers took to washing their dishes in the sinks in the toilet blocks. Whilst I would agree they might not have to do this if the washing up sink wasn't blocked, which is the fault of the site owners, I was amazed by the disgusting state other people left these bathroom sinks in. From the first night someone couldn't be bothered to open the plug to let the water drain out after they had done this and the sink looked like it had been chucked up in to for our whole trip. On the last night whilst we were trying to get ready for bed, an obnoxiously loud group of campers had taken their washing up bowl and all of their many pots and pans into the bathroom and were washing them up in there. We came back later when they were gone and they had left food debris all over the sides and in the sink which was really disgusting.

Overall I would say it was good and I would definitely consider coming back but would be good if the site could be checked and cleaned by the owners every day, and if other campers could have some respect for people...
