This a a very peaceful spot (except for the breakfast room: you will get no peace in the breakfast room; but to compensate, you only have to mention that you like something, beluga caviar, say, and it will appear as if by magic on the breakfast table next day).||The breakfast itself can be as light or as full as you like, with plenty to choose from.||Don't be put off by the Google Earth view from the road of a ramshackle collection of utilitarian farm buildings. Your flat is behind all that and looks out over a small valley to the hillside beyond, frequented only by sheep. ||The accommodation is of a good standard, with two bedrooms, a bathroom and a sitting area (with a tv that actually works, which is not always a given). The space is yours to come and go as you please. Bedding, towels and toiletries are included. ||There is no evening meal option but there are good pubs (and the fleshpots of Matlock and Matlock Bath) close by and a useful community shop a mile down the road in Winster. The Druid Inn in Birchover is particularly recommended but the Miners Standard in Winster also does a decent meal and the Bowling Green there does good takeaways at the weekend. If fish and chips are your thing, I can recommend Habib's in Cromford.||This is not the cheapest B&B but you could pay as much in many hotels and get rather less in return. Owner of this B&B (Lisa Hardy) appeared on the UK hit show 'Four in a Bed' in 2019.

Lisa appeared to genuinely care about the people who stay in her establishment. The rooms were clean, tidy and well-stocked. As a viewer, I believe she should have won the show, but her business-minded rival Nick won in the end.

The problem is, Lisa went into the competition believing the good in mankind, would outweigh the bad, but very quickly her fellow challengers showed her they were willing to step on anyone to win a plaque of all things.

Lisa was naive, but her establishment is well worth a visit.

Some areas Lisa should consider improving:

Invest in a separate kitchen to dining, not everyone wants to sit in a kitchen while the chef is cooking. It can get hot, uncomfortable and just odd.

Build a dining area Lisa, keep your guest in a separate room.

Also, hire a chef or additional help.

From the moment we arrived Lisa and Jim could not do enough for us! We were treated like royalty. Our apartment was gorgeous, and there were lovely treats and thoughtful little things all scattered around!!
