We went on a family trip and between us had a yurt and a two bed safari tent between 6 adults and two children.

The safari tent had two ample sized rooms, one with double bed and one with two good size singles, a large open plan living area with double sofa bed, well equipped kitchen area with gas stove and a wood burner, covered compost toilet and hot shower room. The accommodation also came with a wood fired hot tub which was large enough to get six adults in.

The yurt was a large open space with double bed, and two sofa beds, also with wood burning stove. A well stocked outdoor kitchen (covered from the elements) with gas stove, compost loo shed and heated shower, also with a private hot tub.

Everything was spotlessly clean and well maintained with exceptionally comfy warm beds!

The site also had a large barn with electricity with fridge/freezers with prepared ice packs and enough sockets for charging phones/home comforts.

The location was truly special, the landscape and views were beautiful, completely surrounded by fields and woodland. The accommodation was far enough apart that it felt private without feeling secluded, a perfect escape for large parties and families to get together around an open fire without feeling on top of each other should you wish some time relaxing on your own.

The woodland in the surrounding area offers beautiful peaceful walks and there are sheep and chickens which the kiddies loved seeing.

We travelled with a two year old and 6 month old and a travel cot was provided as well as a box of toys to play with. We loved splashing in the crystal clear stream that runs through the farm (so bring your wellies!!!!)

The hosts were just lovely, a warm and welcoming family run business that clearly take pride in their home and the business, nothing is too much trouble, we even left a bag of clothes and Becky was kind enough to post it back to us, so grateful 🙏🏼

Overall the whole experience was just fabulous, family friendly and attention to detail was second to none, we would absolutely recommend Cuckoo Down Farm, its definitely a place that will stay with you long after...

5 stars is not enough. |We recently stayed as a group for a hen party at Cuckoo Down and had the most beautiful time. The whole site is incredibly well maintained and is true glamping - I have never stayed in such spotlessly clean and well decorated glamping tents. The beds were incredibly comfortable with luxury sheets and extra blankets. The cooking set up is by far the best I have had on a glamping site with a generous wood burning stove, gas hob and ample kitchen supplies to cater for a group. There are more than enough fridges in the main barn and ice packs for the tents if needed. Hot showers and toilet facilities are beside every tent & we always had hot water for showers. Big shoutout to the hot tubs which were pre-warmed for our arrival so took no time to heat up - I have had wood fired hot tubs be a nuisance at other sites but these tubs seemed to heat very quickly and retained their heat even overnight. |The site as a whole is just beautiful, a true nature experience and it was just the most sensational place to have a hen do. The tents were incredibly cosy with the fires lit and it was truly a unique setting for a hen party celebrating a very special bride. |Finally, as if that all wasn't enough, Becky was wonderful throughout the whole booking process. She answered many questions & provided advice, along with generally being very supportive of the hen. She also took the time to give me a thorough tour of the site on arrival & made sure I knew how to contact her if I needed to. Both her and her husband were incredibly kind to us throughout the stay. |To say we loved it would be an understatement - if you want a glamping hen party I would not hesitate to book!!! |(other useful general bits: very close to exeter and beaches, we arranged coasteering which was a 35 min drive away & it is a short walk from a Morrisons daily for any last...

Nice location, in a field with views of trees and grass all round. The Glamping tent is very clean, with a wooden floor and full working shower with warm water. The beds are full size with really comfortable mattress, pillows and bedding. It’s better than the award winning premier inn mattress I think. The jacuzzi is wood fire heated . It takes about 2 hours from full cold start and once hot stay hot for a day with the cover on. So I get up in the morning , take the cover off and jump in having a morning coffee in the warm jacuzzi and only heat it once a day in the afternoon. I highly recommend a relaxing break just making a fire , sitting in the jacuzzi and not even leaving the farm. Sydnouth beach have an excellent fishmonger ( family business for over 47 years) at the far left as you look at the beach. ||The farm has wood and kindling at a very good price , pay as you go. And a fridge and freezer at the main farm house, a 5 min walk away. You can’t see anything but trees from the glamping tent. ||You need ice , as the tent had a coolbox so you need some ice or ice block in it to keep it cool for milk etc. ( I just freeze a 2 litre bottle of water every day in the freezer and swap it) You have a usb charger and electric lights in the tent. But no other power sockets. So it’s perfect and peaceful. ||My family truly enjoyed our stay and I will definitely return. Beaches, horse riding , excellent seafood at a great price, fantastic farm shops and a great adventure park for kids all within...

Wonderful glamping experience in a beautiful, tranquil setting with a thoughtful host. The tents were comfy, spacious and well-equipped, kept cosy and warm by a wood stove with plenty of logs available to buy (settle up at the end of the stay). There are six tents well spaced around a large field which slopes down to a stream, giving each a great balance between privacy and community. Next to the field are woods and all around is farmland. Other than the occasional plane flying overhead and the distant clanking of farm machinery, all you can hear are birds, animals and your own family. We stayed in the safari tents which had comfy beds, sofas, tables and a veranda with another table. Kitchens were inside with gas hobs, sinks with running cold water, wood-burning stoves with ovens, and insulated cool boxes. At the back of each tent were compost loos and a gas-fired shower. One of them even had solar-charged electric lights. No electric supply at the tent, but we knew that in advance. Battery packs can be charged at the barn, where there are also fridge-freezers individually assigned to each tent, a washing machine, dryer and more showers. Our lovely host Becky gave us a warm welcome and settled us in. She organised pony rides for the kids, introduced them to newborn lambs and took us to feed the sheep and chickens. Later in the week she came to see if they wanted to bottle feed some lambs (silly question!) and organised an Easter egg hunt. All in all, an amazingly relaxing stay.

A Magical Stay at Cuckoo Farm – A True Devon Gem We had an absolutely wonderful stay in one of the safari tents at Cuckoo Farm. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed so warmly by the lovely owners, who have clearly poured their hearts into creating this peaceful countryside retreat. The tent itself was beautifully appointed – spacious, cosy, and full of character. The log burner made the cooler evenings extra snug, and the private hot tub was the perfect place to unwind under the stars with a glass of something special. Waking up to the view each morning was a real treat – rolling hills, peaceful pastures, and the gentle sounds of nature all around. The farm is full of charm, with friendly chickens, sheep, and horses adding to the idyllic setting. It’s a total dog haven too – our dogs were in heaven with so much space to explore, and it was clear dogs are genuinely welcomed here, not just tolerated. Location-wise, it couldn’t be better. We were only a short drive from the coast and spent time on some beautiful nearby beaches. The Donkey Sanctuary was another highlight – a heartwarming and fun visit, especially for animal lovers. All in all, Cuckoo Farm is a perfect mix of rustic luxury, genuine hospitality, and peaceful countryside. We’re already planning our next visit!
