I was lucky enough to be offered the newly restored Wagon as their first paying guests when I contacted Annie and Bob about renting their Shepherds Hut for a surprise stay to celebrate my sister's birthday. From start to finish they could not have been more helpful and accommodating, Annie even playing along with the whole surprise when we arrived to the point of nearly fooling even myself! From driving down the lane and opening the gate to the farmhouse you can feel your stresses and strains dissolving, but what was in store for us just a matter of fifty yards ahead can only be described as a little piece of heaven! ||The Wagon is simply beautiful, restored in such a sympathetic manner , set amongst fields of long whispering grasses with uninterrupted views . Every piece of the restoration has a story to tell , from the sink from an old school chemistry block to the huge comfortable bed made from the old gatepost. When Annie slid open the wagon door the cool, cosy interior oozed old charm and finesse, but with all the mod cons of microwave, fridge, hob and log burner (which we didn't need as it was the hottest weekend of the year!) Having said this we were beautifully cool in the wagon and both slept like logs, waking only to the soft coo of two pigeons outside.||Outside we had a table and chairs to sit at and enjoy the peace and tranquility with a glass of wine, and in the evening a fire pit and bench where we toasted marshmallows and watched the wildlife. Everything you could need is available in the wagon -even the toasting fork, wood and firelighters, and as previous reviews of the farm have stated , the basket of goodies delivered for breakfast is divine, especially the homemade granola! ||With my sister being a complete camping novice I was particularly keen that the bathroom felt like luxurious glamping, and the wash hut surely didn't disappoint, a fully fitted stunning bathroom tucked into a quaint gypsy type hut a matter of 15 yards from the Wagon. This, like the Wagon has been finished to a fantastic standard yet retains that sense of being at one with nature. ||The busy local pub , a ten minute walk away served superb food and the staff were really friendly. I recommend booking if you want to eat, and to go early as it started to really quieten down by 9pm.||All in all I cannot recommend The Wagon enough if you want a luxurious, peaceful stay- my only concern is that it will get soooo booked up that we won't be able to visit again soon, as we certainly intend to make this an annual Sisters trip!! Thank you, thank you, thank you Annie and Bob, you made us genuinely feel so welcome and are so lucky to live in such an...
Read moreWe had a two night stay in this fabulous hide-away located on Hall farm. Annie and Bob made us feel so welcome and provided an excellent experience. The breakfast hamper of fresh bread, eggs, jams and Hall farm honey was the icing on the cake, for us. ||||It is a brilliant idea they've had to refurb an old railway wagon to a very high specification and using materials mainly upcycled from old times past, such as an old wodden gate as the comfortable doube bed frame and old school bench tops. The wagon is strikingly spacious, warm and comfortable and the log burner adds that extra assurance of evening warmth if necessary. ||||For our 'glamping experience' we had use of the converted shepherd's wagon as a nearby toilet and shower block. This is an additional idea done out to very good comfort specification with copious amounts of hot water. ||||The Hall farm, surrounds and the Wagon's location is in a beautiful area of natural interest, with peace and tranquility in abundance. Annie and Bob are so friendly and such a lovely couple to get to know that we left feeling the need to come back some time for much more and experience the opportunity that such a unique stay can afford for additional relaxation and peace. ||||You must definitely have to experience this as a relaxing one away from the hustle and bustle of every...
Read moreA properly idyllic, beautiful and peaceful experience, surrounded by wildlife, views and nature in your own private haven.| |We spent 2 nights in the shepherds hut and were lucky enough to have fantastic sunny weather. We decided to cook dinner over the awesome firepit and watch the stars both evenings, and when we woke up in the morning a lovely homemade breakfast was delivered- including fruit from the garden and honey from the bees!||It was so lovely to meet Annie and Bob, who are quite remarkable in what they do. They’re so friendly and really make sure you have everything you could possibly need.||There’s a drinking water tap by the hut, a tea/coffee making area and fridge in a barn behind the hut, and an excellent shower and toilet in the house about a 30 second walk away. ||We definitely want to come back and would highly...
